I can see one confirming we are trying for still but won’t give him the money he wants, or we won’t let him bring his own back room staff in, or both
Maric himself said it would be incredibly easy to win u19 games if that was the aim (just go direct, create overloads etc as it will be easy to just overwhelm players at that level) but that the players would learn little from that in the long term and it would ultimately be detrimental to their development.
This is how academy coaches are asked to operate. Results arent relevant, player development is. Players themselves will bring a competitive edge, that is normal, bir coaches are looking to see players learn certain things in training and then implement them in a game. One of my first experience was in Stokes academy. I was helping with some dev players they had. The lead coach asked me to work on certain things with them over a 3 week period and then we would put them in a game. It was all about controlled possession. I did 9 sessions with them, all unopposed, and then they went in and played the game. They got beat 3-1 but the lead coach couldnt have been happier becuase they had so much control of the ball and were able to keep it. That was a baseline for the next phase of their development.
I don't think his wages will be much of a factor. Still has said he is already very comfortable on the money he was on at Reims. You have to accept when recruiting that the minimum you have to do is match the previous money, unless you're offering a clear step up and then the experience itself can be reward enough. Not the case here, I'd say. He's done enough to have his money matched plus a little bit IMO. Not a doubling of wages or anything like that. I doubt he would be asking for that though. IF he is first choice and there is a stumbling block my guess would be it's related to his team or something about assurances he's after and not getting. All guesswork of course. I very much doubt it's about his personal monetary reward though.
It was Still Then it was Maric Then it was Parker Then it was Poyet Now it’s back to one of the first two
It will likely be… Sunderland are still looking for a manager, even though other clubs have appointed straight away. Clarke may be off this window. Something vague about the ownership and top level management.
I know a little bit about academy football as I've a family member at a club. I agree with you here but on the flip side kids want to win and want to have fun on the journey so it's important you get the balance. Nobody wants to get hammered every week and winning, having the hunger and winning mentality, is a massive part of football
DANISH coach Bo Svensson is emerging as a shock candidate for the Sunderland vacancy. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.th...vensson-jurgen-klopp-thomas-tuchel-mainz/amp/
Been out of work since November. Got to say I’d be pretty pissed off at waiting this long to appoint somebody we could have had months ago
it is - it’s in the uk version of the sun credited to him. His other story is Dortmund and Leverkusen want Rigg
