Owners generally speaking dont know enough to make informed judgements about coaches etc. It is why they have advisors, in a lot of cases anyway. I dont know much about the Hull owner but I know a few Hull fans who think it is a mind boggling decision. Rosenior seemed to be building something at Hull, and arguably he fell just short, but in a league with those 3 relegated teams and Ipswich is that so bad? Coaches these days dont get time. Lets see who they bring in next, but I wouldnt be surprised to see Rosenior get another crack at the championship.

    Based on what?

Every interview and podcast I’ve listened to he seems extremely grounded.

The way I look at it is do we go for someone young and exciting who’s going to bring a brand football that could do well both in the championship and premier league, or bring in someone boring who’s already well known and does a job at this level but will get twatted every week in the PL? I’d hate to be that club. I’d rather take a risk on a younger, lesser known manager who could potentially be great than go with a safe pair of average hands.

Still has done well with the opportunities he's got. Every chance he's had to get into a leadership position he's taken and done well at. His 17-game winning streak at Reims is a Ligue One record.

But how well will he do in a long-term grind? Up to now his achievements have all been short term appointments.

Personally I'd like someone with a bit more experience, but if it pays off it'll be up there with Keane and Reid in the excitement stakes.

Are there no well known coaches who can do a good job at this level and then do well in the premier league?

It's what concerns me about the 'KLD has taken control of the manager search' story that keeps being spread. If he's using advisors then thats fine, i'd still like to know who they are though so I can judge if I trust them.

I'm trying to think of the last one who stepped up having not been there before and then thrived in the PL. There's not many.

Who we could attract? Probably not. Maybe Scott Parker.

I hope that at some point in our future that we get Nigel Clough on board in some capacity..

    Even at our youth level.

He is respected leader at Mansfield by all accounts...

That's because promoted sides usually struggle so managers are short-sightedly sacked. Managers appointed from Championship clubs usually go to sides that are already struggling and aren't given time to make a difference.

    But- Thomas Frank.

Phil Smith at the Echo seems to pretty definitively be saying that Maric is not in the running this time around:

    https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...ent-plans-and-what-next-for-the-model-4620228

If right, I'm disappointed but in hindsight the links to it ever being Maric were all fairly tenuous and the denials (from the likes of Training Ground Guru) all felt like they had a bit more credibility. The only thing that counters that is the Dodds and him following eachother on social media thing but I still can't understand if that was already an established relationship or whether they were actually 'new follows'.

I was thinking about who coaches seem not to get a shot at going from the championship to the prem. In the past coaches have shown they can step up. Parker would be on my list for sure. Others who have done it, but not on my list include Howe, Allardyce, ONiell, Rodgers, Moyes, Bruce. It just feels a bit like clubs now trust coaches from overseas a bit more to be a success.

From the championship I would be happy to give Robins, Corberan, Wagner, Mousinho, Rosenior, Tomasson a chance. I know not everyone will agree, all good, but I think all might be gettable and all might be grow with us to the prem.

Corberan and Robins I agree, just don’t think we have a chance of getting them. Coventry will go big again this summer imo they’ll be right up there next season.
