they’d be mad not to if he’s been the main target since last year.

I know for a fact we have been in close contact with him for months.

But it's not done till it's done. They have Maric as back up. K
Wouldn't surprise me that Speakman last job is the transition of the new man and his team.

It should do. And he should go back there. I think he is a bit tarnished here to do it for us. Somebody will get an outstanding performer in that role though.

Agree. But Dosh is Dosh. It's a big different to paying a team than the PE teacher we have on the sidelines currently.

It can not. It will come down to money and the wider team I think. But best not say more on that.

I totally agree. Its a real shame because we're losing a top level member of staff.

Probably true. Not his fault he was put in charge of the first team though.

Presumably Maric will want more than just being saddled with Dodds and Proctor

Well I sure hope KLD has learned his lesson and does what it takes to get his main man. Don’t let the manager you want go because you want to keep losers like Dodds and proctor around

I dont know how much he wanted a first team role or not. I do know that Mowbray and Venus regarded him highly.

In modern football there are so many backroom roles. Unfortunately many are not high profile or regarded highly publicly. I dont therefore blaming folk for chasing some limelight. We need to respect more the backroom roles, and I mean club boards, and have someone in post to say your progression route isnt into first team football coaching, but into our head of academy role, which should be on the same level as the assistant head coach in reality.

Most of us have played footy. Remember how brutal a mens dressing room is? No prisoners at all. Everyone I have been in as a player was full of big characters and demands were high. I was a really demanding teammate, the worst at times. A few of us will have coached too and been in those same dressing rooms. You have to be the dominant voice, no arguments. That doesnt come from playing, it comes from self confidence and empathy all rolled into one. You need to exude confidence in your instructions and your players. You have to allow the matcho bullshit and then cut it off at the knees. If players are too dominant, like I could be, the coach has to drop them a rung or two. Everything revolves around you, then you walk out and leave your assistants and captain to it. Not everyone is cut out for that sort of environment. It is hard to walk the right path.

Somebody needs to take Dodds in now and rebuild him into an elite development coach. Bit of TLC I think he needs.

Oh well, I'm glad that this seasons came to an end.

I've been uninterested since February and so have the players. Well it certainly looked like it.

Some massive mistakes made but hopefully seen as learning curves from the hierarchy.

Dodds is a decent coach and a decent bloke too (only had a few pleasantries as we're both coffee addicts <laugh>) but was way out of his depth.

Hopefully this brings in a big summer of change. I'm waiting for a Romano tweet to confirm our new boss, I'm sure it'll be soon!

I'm more of a Maric fan than Still, but would be happy with either. It'll probably be Still imo.

We're not this **** lads, we've got a nucleus of a top 6 team as it is, with the right direction, add in what we need and we'll be flying.

Here's to a summer of strikers, experience and git bit ginger managers <laugh><laugh><laugh>

There's a staff match on the pitch at the stadium tomorrow so I doubt anything from the club will come out. Probably Tuesday at the earliest for anything official.

A cracking post and I couldn’t agree more. People talk about the difference between Manager and Head Coach but whatever the title they have to have the gravitas to lead the team and manage the dressing room. Technical coaching skills are important but not enough in isolation. You can also have other members of the broader team supporting on the coaching side. We need a strong leader both internally with the squad and as the focal point for the club and fans.

Unfortunately I thought he appeared to be completely out of his depth , the constant changes to formation and players positions on the field was baffling as most of the time the players did not seem to really know what was expected of them . His post match briefings appeared to suggest he had been observing a totally different game to the supporters for the most part most of the time of tenure were drab , boring , unentertaining , backward passing affairs . Thankfully we had a decent start to the season and had sufficient points on the board to prevent us falling in to a relegation fight as I would not have fancied us to survive . Many of the fans around me and on the coach home are pleased the season is over and want the club to appoint a decent coach , make some sensible signings and restart the progress of the last couple of years -we need a reset .
