If they're trying to get him on a permanent then I could see it but if it's just as a loan why would Man City send him somewhere he's competing with Brewster, McBurnie, Archer (if Villa don't buy him back)?
They don't have to do anything of the sort. They just have the ability to buy him back if they want to.
Seems a bit conflicting the reports but Nixon also saying they are taking him back either way. Very clever deal by Villa really.
Seems a little bit pointless unless the buy back is a lot less than Sheff Utd paid initially. May as well have just been a loan.
Think it was an FFP work around. Villa got the money on their books as I think they’ve been struggling with it. Like you say I think they’ll probably be paying less than they got for the buy back.
There is a fair bit of interest in him, how much of that is serious is yet to be seen
Not according to Birmingham Live, they're reporting that Archer is automatically bough back at a reduced fee if Sheff United are relegated, they had to get players off the books to meet FFP rules (which obviously helped us, as we got Philogene as a consequence).
Would archer be a decent signing for us, if Villa want to move him on
Fair enough if that's the case, it would be strange not to just make it an option as that would be even more beneficial for FFP.
I can see there being a fair bit of interest in Delap. Feels like one we would need to get done quickly. During the course of the summer the good memories and sentimentality will wane and other opportunities and money will become more of a factor. I do get the feeling things are in place for this though, maybe wishful thinking.
Morton on the other hand is more difficult I suppose due to the manager situation at Liverpool.
I really hope we buy at least one attacker with frightening pace, we've lacked this for a long time now.

Delap is one of few strikers who can pick the ball up pretty much anywhere and drag us up the field. Some of his solo goals this season have been absolutely outstanding. Now we're creating more chances and providing far better service in general he could be an absolute monster in this league.
And other clubs will be seeing the same thing we are. On top of his ability and potential he seems like a true professional with a great character.
The way Liam was smiling, taking in the applause and laughing and joking with his teammates during the lap of honour I think he's up to come back for another season or three. One hopes on a permanent. Lets be fair he's not going to break into the Manc Citeh side any time soon. if he doesn't come back Danns from Lpool would be a decent replacement.
It’s a difficult situation because, from a Hull City fan perspective, we’ve stood by him, the fans love him, and he’s enjoyed his time here…but, from a footballing business and career perspective, he’s going to go wherever is best for his future, and that might not be here. I hope it is though.
I imagine that if we are to sign him, it’ll be done and dusted early. If not, you’d have to think there are other attractive options on the table for him and what he wants as a player.

If he feels the same, that’s probably our biggest bargaining chip, so you’d have to ask: what beats that if you’re a player?

Premier League teams can offer him most things in those lists, but probably wouldn’t build a team around him and give him as many minutes, so it probably comes down to whether he’s okay with that trade-off from a development point of view.
I have to admit, if I was in his position, I’d find it difficult to turn down a Premier League offer, as you’ll never find out if you can cut it if you don’t try.

- A massive wage
