I have no problem with this. Butter is an option and one I have dabbled inNope! I'm married to a cornish maid. It is Butter first then jam then dollop cream on top, where else is cream not a topping?
For me the practical consideration makes this a no-brainer and anyone doing it the other way is being wilfully obtuse
You can spread jam on a scone with a knife, try spreading jam on cream, catastrophic mess
Try dunking jam on cream, it won't leave the spoon and if you scrape it off with a knife but its just a blob on the cream, and you're starting to get a complex cutlery sharing situation
Happy to discuss what jam though. Berry for me and ideally not the Straw kind
Of course, living in Devon, I'm of the cream first persuasion, but the Cornish do apparently have some international support......https://www.facebook.com/share/v/H6TJbsPTgj9pTdn7/You have now opened the scone-based floodgates on the jam first, then cream, or cream first, then jam, debate. Personally, I prefer cream first, then jam.
I doubt he’d recognise a scone if it slapped him in the kisser, but either way he’d undoubtedly eat it with a knife and forkOf course, living in Devon, I'm of the cream first persuasion, but the Cornish do apparently have some international support......https://www.facebook.com/share/v/H6TJbsPTgj9pTdn7/

And pronounce it wrong
