Traore did play those minutes at the back end of last season and we seemed to manage him really well. Would probably be the only one I’d keep around if like mentioned he’d take a wage cut.
When you consider how long Traore has been with us, and then think of the huge impact that Ömur has had in his short time with us I just don’t think that Traore justifies his squad place at the high salary that he’ll be on. He’s undoubtedly a skilful player but I just don’t think he has the engine for what we’re now looking for in a midfielder, and as someone else said I’d much rather a lower cost U21 given the opportunity off the bench.
omurs energy is incredible very very fit player tufan has come on massively fitness wise since rosie came on, traore is not built for it
I think he’s proven he is built for it, just not as much as others. He’s played a deeper role against a direct physical Preston side and played his best game of the season. Tufan isn’t trusted to do that for the side.
"Well, I think the answer lies in the soil." - Arthur Fallowfield (aka Kenneth Williams), Round the Horne (circa mid- 60's).
Traore is a difficult one - he’s a good squad player but in our system - is he mobile enough to play deep or is he creative enough to play as a first choice 10 for a promotion chasing team? My answer to both of those is no. If he had an extra year on his contract I’d be happy to see him stay - but I’m not sure I’d choose to offer him a new deal.
Not sure about anyone else but I never find myself looking at the bench and thinking we should bring Traore on.
Theres no way traore stays And his wages gone will be good We need oscar to have a really good few months in brasil so they buy him
Yeah me neither. He’s not a player to bring on when chasing a game as he’s not that sort of player who will run himself into the ground, and he’s not a player you bring on as fresh legs to defend a slim lead. Only time you’d think of subbing him on if we were up 3 or 4 and wanted to retain possession and take the piss out of the opposition. Definition of a luxury player.
He’s creative enough. His technical ability is his strongest quality. Question is not whether he’s creative enough to play as a number 10 as he definitely is imo, the question is whether he’s got the legs to do it in our team with our style of play and the answer is no. It’s quite obvious that in order to play as we do, it requires the number 10 to press the opposition’s back four along with the striker. Tufan does it brilliantly. Ömür definitely has the engine to press as a number 10 in this team. Carvalho can also do it. Traoré can’t.
Getting Traoré, Christie, Connolly, Docherty and Sharp off our wage bill and hopefully Woods, Óscar, Longman and probably Sinik too would make our financial situation a lot better. The squad will look extremely thin but getting them off the wage bill will allow us some breathing room and to offer Willock a decent deal to come here in the summer when his contract runs out at QPR. Maybe this is what Baz meant about doing everything we can to keep Greaves for another year? I’m still preparing myself for Greaves and Philogene to go but if we shift a lot of the deadwood, it might mean we only have to sell one of them.
Who's this Traore? Can't believe some are suggesting we consider keeping him. A lot of money for literally no point.
Agreed. What's he done in two years? A decent finish against Millwall last season and a criminal miss of a likely winner against TWS, and that's it I think.
Very good player Traore. But it’s clear Rosey doesn’t fancy him. Should have played more IMO but there are obvious flaws to his game, physically and regular dips of concentration. Used correctly and in form he’d be a huge asset to any team at this level and has the ability to play a pinpoint pass through a tight defence. But he also doesn’t play enough and is apparently expensive. Much like Pelkas last summer, keep if he can be cheap enough, **** him off if not. And much like Prlkas he’ll probably have plenty of clubs around Europe happy to pay him a decent wage.
It's the defensive/pressing side of his game why he's not playing. Even someone like Twine who had a tricky spell with us, that side of his game was far superior to Adama's
Yeah I was alluding to it above, but it's actually a positive (in some ways) that so much of our wage bill is tied up on this dead weight, as it shows just how much funding we actually have available when we sort the squad out.
