I don't think it's just cigs, is it vapes to? Labour are fully behind the ban I believe. It don't affect me but do I believe there should be a ban, no. It will just drive it underground like cannabis and cocaine, and they have never been successful in controlling that supply either.
All it will do is bring down the prices of cigarettes Instead of the gov taxing the **** out of it, you'll have people selling them for 50% today's price. The UK has serious problems with their elected officials, I have never seen a gaggle of such useless ****s. 650 of them, Christ alive. Lib Dems btw, who want to legalize cannabis, voted in favour of this. Which means in my eyes, their pledge to legalize cannabis is a lie. They'll never ever do it.
Just for the record here, Ed Balls was once considered an INCOMPETENT politician. Nowadays he's ****ing miles ahead of the people in power. Sums up how much things have fallen apart. Not to mention, the nostalgia for the Blair years is not something I expected so soon. Think currently Gordon Brown is one of the highest rated politicians in the UK and he's not even active.
Brown was probably the most intelligent poltician of the Blair years (and in those days, there was actually some genuine competition). But he was pretty crap at actual politics, which generaly requires off the scale levels of smarminess and dishonesty..
lol was genuinely confused then, I was like "Why are they interviewing an Olympic cyclist about inflation?" But its a different Laura Trott!
The clock is ticking down, by this time next year Labour will be in charge... The prime minister can call the next general election any time between now and 17 December 2024 – which is exactly five years since parliament first met after the last general election, in 2019. If an election has not been called by this point, parliament would be automatically dissolved and the election would take place 25 working days later. This means the latest date for the next general election is 28 January 2025. https://www.instituteforgovernment.org.uk/explainer/next-general-election
Brown was a smart guy, but he did have a lack of charisma and a habit of putting his foot in it. I think domestically speaking, Gordon Brown was the PM from 1997 - 2010. It's pretty public record that Blair had little time or patience for domestic matters, foreign policy was his arena. An issue for Brown was upon becoming PM, he had already instigated many of his policies and really had little new to offer the voting public.
This. A very competent politician with a good working knowledge of parliament and its nuances. But ultimately not very charismatic (in an arena dominated by personality politics) and like you say, not able to offer much more than was already on the table and add to that he had the banking crash to deal with.
And the fact that the pillock sold off half of our countries gold reserves to finance investment into foreign currencies like the Euro, which then proceeded to tank while the cost of gold skyrocketed, which cost the UK an estimated £7.5 billion. But, hindsight and all that
