How are Labour doing after their first 12 months

I really do wonder sometimes how much people actually understand about how the new benefit system works these days. Even some of the stuff I read on GC by Quartermoon or whatever his name is often appears as though it lacks understanding.

Rishi says if they refuse work after 12 months their benefit will be stopped, no, if you refuse any job, regardless of time period your benefit is stopped. If people are getting sicknotes or fit for work notes, that means generally they are already employed and dependent on their length of service be claiming sick from their employer, not the state - although I accept with some people it's the opposite, but let's have the full picture.

The only way any people would be swinging the lead is if work coaches are not doing their jobs properly. Most people on Universal Credit are working, there are some aspects that will not be, those would have been previosuly covered off by medical professionals - The Tories created UC ffs.

Then there are some people that can't get the treatment they require because the Tories fooked up the NHS, and it is on it's knees.

I think people seem to be stuck in a timewarp of how benefits use to be abused, and I'm sure there will always be some cases out there, but certainly not to the level that the Tories are trying to claim, except for organised crime, which is nowt to do with most benefit claimants in the true sense of the word..

Let's be honest here, even if every single one of them was swinging the lead (which is not true), you've then got to find employers prepared to take them on, and their disabilites as it all comes part of the package.

I can honestly say, I don't know one single person that is misusing the benefits system, which is a far cry from decades ago, everyone was at it. I can't speak about the taxes element but all of this requires resources.

We don't even have enough doctors and nurses, so where is Sunak going to magic all these medical professionals from, the guy is a fooking idiot. Ah! Unless he already knows the benefit system has these people, and are already accessing people on an annual basis, so he's pretending to create something that already exists!

Did it really require a live broadcast, hmmm, more like a witch hunt.
there is and always will be a percentage fiddling the system but they have designed a system for disability benefits with a structure that actually has a structure that helps someone who wants to fiddle the system as the points system with its freely available guidance on what things count towards the points just tells you what to put on the form .
Should also point out thats lots of genuine claimants have to exagerrate their impairment these days due the continuous tightening of the criteria for example you got full points if you couldn't walk more than 50m without pain or serious discomfort but it has been reduced to 30m iirc as if anyone who can only do 40m isn't going to just put they can't do 30 <laugh>

He also went on about the number of hours people on UC have to work, yet again, I'm like hang on, that guy you just swapped places with on the podium before your speech wrote the fooking rules for those hours lol.

i didn't see it but the constant tinkering is pointless imo and often leads to unexpected consequences .

Oh dear, think we can all have a good guess if sunak and his mates was on the skim.
I sense another WhatsApp deletion/lost/changed the phone excuse coming up.

Labour have promised to renationalise the railways if elected

All of those profits creamed off by the private operators will now go back into investment in the infrastructure and service

<ok>
Saw this but didnt read the actual plan yet.

Might do later.

Probably not tho.

Yeah the devil will be in the detail.

But the basic principle that public services should be owned and accountable to the taxpayer is sound <ok>

Just listening to Anthony Blinken speaking in Beijing about the US / China relationship. Got a lot of respect for this man, being able to negotiate with the Chinese about issues ranging from weapons supplies to Russia, trade deals not undermining US production and jobs, clamping down on fake fentanyl being sold into the US market, AI, Chinese military presence in the South China Seas etc.

Makes you realise just what a **** nugget a bloke like Trump is, who just goes in with his massive orange ego and tries to make himself look important

people like blinken must shudder at the thought of having to work with him if he’s elected

If Trump comes in he won't be working with Blinken.

My idea has been to have a nationlised service but allow private competition, the issue is not if they're national rails or private rails. The issue is that industries become stagnant when they have a monopoly and don't need to think about losing customers.

Neither the gov nor the private rail firms are sitting about thinking "oh **** if we provide bad trains everyone will just go out and buy a car!"

Blinken is a Democrat politician. He'll be replaced by a Republican if Trump comes in.

Until that one is sacked and then the next one... and then the next one... and the next one...

Yeah, I forget. Unlike our civil service, they chuck everybody out and put in a whole new team in the US at election time
