I don’t expect perfection from any of our players. They’re all human.

But it would be nice if Baz occasionally made a save instead of letting everything in
I have defended Baz a fair few times but his shots faced to goals conceded ratio must be pretty crap.

Hopefully he improves that with age as he is still young. Not saying he is crap, but he definitely seems to let a few easier ones slip by him.

But if everyone in front of him did their jobs and stopped losing the ball cheaply he would make a lot less.

Agree to disagree here. Occasionally you need your keeper to bail out the defence. That’s why they’re there.

My example for how much a keeper can affect a team is Emi Martinez at villa. He wins them SO many points per season. Unbelievable keeper.

Whereas ours lose us points. I’m not saying we can attract someone on Martinez level, as he is one of the best in the world.. but a top class keeper can win you games. And we haven’t had one for years, arguably since Fraser Forster got injured.

Macca was good for a couple of seasons and hopefully he can hit the ground running in the champ.

I have mentioned before that I don’t think that Baz is a “natural and instinctive” goalkeeper.
He makes a few decent saves, especially if the shots are close enough for him to palm over the bar, but he rarely makes the flying across the goal saves that the top keepers make.
The top keepers seem to be more instinctively balanced and react more quickly to shots on goal, whereas Baz seems to be a second off the pace which is why so many shots find the bottom corner instead of being pushed round the post.
With high balls he too often tries to catch the ball to his chest, with his arms under the ball, which led to us conceding a goal recently (can’t remember against what team) instead of reaching out to catch with his hands above the incoming striker.
Comparing him to the best is like comparing someone who paints by numbers to a world renowned artist.

See the new seating plan is out.

Looks like the cheap section is gone and hasn’t been replaced.

We have lost our seats to the new kids section.

Significant price increases across the board.

Without promotion I expect there will be a reasonable decrease in attendance next season.

I know fans asked for this but I think it will turn out to be a mistake.

Wont the standing section be even cheaper than the cheap section?
I thought that was the whole point

9-10 months is a shocker. Will be out for the majority of next season too. Wonder how the club will handle that from a transfer perspective. We aren't in a position to buy another 1st choice, so do we try and loan someone?

Yeah it is a tough one from the clubs perspective. Can see a loan or maybe an older keeper on a one year deal

Can’t see them spending on say a mid-late twenties keeper on a 3/4 year deal. How long is Lumley’s contract? I suppose if he is gone this summer as well then they will need to recruit 2 keepers

Have to take the silver lining here. A chance to get a top keeper in on loan who can save shots and also force the club to use one of the legion of talented wingers we have in the youth team.

Or we go up and just spend.

Lumley signed a new one-year contract for next season a few weeks back.

We're currently in a situation where he's our only fit goalkeeper starting pre-season, so we really do need someone in quickly.
