Ok, it reads like he's had an actual discussion with him. Not sure why the HDM is publishing it otherwise.

Not a chance, he’s obviously too good to be playing in this division. I don’t think he’ll waste any more time here (don’t mean he’s wasting his time now, but he needs to be taking the next challenge and the next step in his development).

Giles is on loan too. A lot of work needed though regardless isn't it. As others have said, hopefully the sale of an asset or two allow us to sign more quality permanents.

I think getting the Liverpool lads back next season should be priority, it’s probably one of the reasons Delap likes it here so much. If all his mates are gone next season then I doubt it’s as attractive.

Congratulations to Jacob Greaves on him making the EFL team of the season, something he fully deserves. There is no doubt that will enhance his value, and probably accelerate his departure, if we don't get up this time round.

Nevertheless, with him and Jaden having very good saleable values, it would put the club in a strong financial position if one or both did go, to bolster the squad next season.

Championship promotion hopefuls Hull City are one of a number of clubs linked with a summer transfer window move for in-form Oxford United winger Josh Murphy.

Murphy has bagged six goals in his last 12 games including a goal and two assists in the thumping 5-0 win over play-off rivals Peterborough United at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday which sees them sit sixth with three games to go and it's claimed by The Sun the Tigers had scouts there to see the action unfold.

It's that form throughout the campaign which has seen City, along with West Brom, Sunderland and QPR linked with a move for the 29-year-old, who previously joined Cardiff from Norwich for £11m six years ago, and is the twin brother of Newcastle United ace Jacob.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and would walk away for free should he opt to leave United, but boss Buckingham admits to being relaxed about the situation which will be a big talking point in the summer, irrespective of what league they find themselves in.

    Any of the loanees back on another loan would represent poor progress on them making the jump up to their parent club's first team. IMO they'll either;
    1) Return to their parent club and be loaned out to a Prem club next season
    2) Return to their parent club and be involved in their squad
    3) Be sold

Bringing in a couple of them on a perm + another handful of loanees would be decent business.

If Greaves goes, IMO, we should replace him with a seasoned head. Someone who can help the, otherwise relatively young, back 5 with game management.

He’s good enough to be playing in the Championship, he’s been the best player in that division this season. If he’s available for free, it’s a decent signing, especially as he can play on the right too.

Guessing the fact he’s 29 will scare some people, but if we got Willock and had Murphy as back up, that’s the left covered if Philogene leaves.

I’d still make a move for Tyler Goodrham, though.

Think a case for Delap's return could be made given his time out due to injury.

If/when Greaves goes we probably should sign a more experienced centre-back but not as a direct replacement for Greaves. If we’re following the Brighton/Brentford model of selling our youngish talent with lots of potential for big money, we should be signing similar players who also have resale value as replacements. Selling Greaves and signing a 31-year-old on a two-year deal isn’t really sustainable. The obvious replacement for Greaves would be someone like Cashin who is also early 20s, highly-rated etc.

When Brighton sold Caicedo, they signed Baleba as a long-term replacement. We should follow this business model also. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t sign older, experienced players, just not as long-term direct replacements for our young talents that we sell.

    I disagree.

Allsop came in as a cheap option having had a less than average season at Cardiff.

Murphy has been the best player in League One this season.

I think he would be solid as a back up option, especially on a free.

I agree. If Greaves goes, if the replacement isn’t Ronnie Edwards or somebody of that ilk, I’d be disappointed. You said Cashin on another post, he’d also be an ideal replacement.

We’ll have to agree to disagree. He’s had a decent season at Oxford, that’s true, but he’s 29 and had arguably his best season in his career in League One this year. He’d be a solid signing for a League One team that wins promotion this year to the Championship, or one of the teams relegated to League One this year but we should definitely have higher standards. Replacing Philogene with Willock + a younger player with a high ceiling should be the policy.

Comparing him to Allsop might’ve been harsh. It’s closer to Andy Cannon.

Andy Cannon was a better signing than Allsop. At least he didn’t play.
