Can’t see this being true at all. What’s the point in a head coach in that case? I could see him ask Dodds to give minutes to certain players to increase their value - and this request will be down to the head coach to follow or reject it. I definitely can’t see Speakman picking the team though.
Odd that he's refusing to play any of the strikers he bought in the summer FFS man, there is some absolute bollocks spouted by our fanbase at times
not just that are two most expensive players we sighed in the summer have sat on the bench most of the season aswell, and if people honest think beale knowing how much he loves him self would take a job knowing he's not picking the team, no chance he would of took it
That's just the same stuff that's been bouncing round the forums man. Speakman, and all the analysts, coaches etc. all have input into team selection. Final decision by the manager.
If Speakman was meddling as much as folk are making out, then surely a coach held in high esteem like TM would have walked, before he was pushed. Some of our fans try very hard to look at any angle they can, to have a dig at the club. Most agree this seasons been disappointing but overall we are in a very good place. This summer is going to be so important for us.
I lived in France for years and grew tired of hearing other long term exiles ordering drinks and meals in English. That's what worries me about the likes of Heckingbottom/Wilder/Mowbray as they seem to operate in quite a small world. We won't attract the likes of Diallo if they think they might feel uncomfortable imo.
Ancelotti has won titles in all 5 major European countries amongst many other domestic and European competitions.. Mourinho has also won plenty whether you like his style or not he’s a winner. Good managers take their own staff with them because they’ll have their own responsibilities and roles within the set up so they can hit the ground running and know what to expect of each other. As I’ve already said does anyone think Villa would be where they are had Emery not came with his own team and continued to work with the previous coaching staff that had them languishing just above the relegation places? If you had something that was completely underperforming you wouldn’t just change the module that tells it what to do you’d change the components that are failing too.
I do agree with this mind I was speaking about it the other day, we’re a very rude bunch. Personally if I was going to move abroad I’d take the time to learn the mother tongue of wherever that may be, going on holiday for a few weeks obviously a bit different. But that being said they are playing football in England at this level the majority of players are English speaking.
I only go to the likes of Majorca and Lanzarote once every few years and ALWAYS order in Spanish, it’s easy to do and servers are over the moon when ya do it. saying that as school kids on a trip we stood out on the streets of Paris Bonjouring Parisians as they walked past and they were fooking pissed off
If you believe everything that's written ( I have my reservations) then it seems like its Heckingbottoms job...unless the club are playing a blinder behind the scenes. IF it is true...then my feeling is the same as most fans when Beale took over. We need improvement...We didn't get it with Beale ....that was s sidewards step at best and Heckingbottom will be a retrograde step in my eyes.. Time will tell.
I don't know why people are worried about the club saying 'no' to any new Head Coach who wants to bring his own team in. There is a vacancy for an Assistant Manager. Another of the First Team coaches (Anthony somebody) is out of contract in the summer and the goalkeeping coach is replaceable. That's 3 vacancies for starters. If the new Head Coach wants a fourth, then Proctor will have to make way, but Dodds would still be accommodated. Proctor and Dodds aren't Clough and Taylor - they're not a double act. Players and other coaches think highly of Dodds. Players seem to like Proctor, but is that because he's a great coach or a canny lad? To me, he's not indispensable.
Agree. A number of our fans are unable or unwilling to accept that progress is not necessarily linear. It doesn't always work that because we get in the play-offs one season we're going to get promoted the next and,if we don't,then that is abject failure. Lack of a ready striker, injuries and chaotic head coach turn-round have resulted in a mid table finish....disappointing,but not remotely terminal. Address those matters successfully and next season we go again with our young, talented players, who will be another year older and will have gained much experience from this season.
That's quite true but it's one thing saying 'I'm pleased to have scored' for the cameras but something else absorbing the manager's instructions and tactics ... ... even the English lads seem to struggle
I’d argue Heckingbottom is a step up on Beale, probably more of a side step to Mowbray if anything. Both achieved similar.
I heard a rumour that Mowbray Mowbray knew he wasn't well when he came here and worse when he went to Birmingham ... ... TBF it was me that started the rumour but there's no smoke without fire.
