Anyone is allowed to criticise but his point about signing only British plodders was totally incorrect which is what I picked him up on. Where is the evidence of an overly strong emphasis on plodders? Bruno, Isak, Botman, Gordon, Barnes, Livramento, Trippier possibly Hall and Minteh. He wanted Phillips only on loan because we had no money and a disastrous amount of injuries in midfield. He was probably worth a shot but Howe is likely as relieved as us at how he’s turned out albeit who’s to say Howe might not have got more out of him. His criticism of last summer’s transfer business has never been slated by me and tbh I can’t remember anyone else either. However if Tonali and Barnes hadn’t missed almost the whole season who knows how much better we would have done. His point on due diligence on Tonali has nothing to support it it’s just natural frustration with the situation which we all share.
My point being you and everyone else were not saying Dummett was dreadful and shouldn’t be near the pitch after those games and with that evidence what supports your idea that it was so bad putting him on late in the game v Everton? Nothing whatsoever. Any player can do something wrong.
OK but you dont know he only wanted Phillips for that reason so it's the same kind of assumption you're criticising Roly for. This is the thing people make assessment based on what information is available and only time will tell us which is right now people telling others they are wrong. The rest of this season and the summer will clear it all up, but nobody is right or wrong at this stage, so we have to just let people make their views and that's it really. I'm with Roland, but of course I could end up wrong about this manager... he did well until this season and it could just be a blip.
I've always said he was useless... at the end of the day if Howe gets something wrong that's not our fault. He knows he's in the results business and will be judged on his decisions.
We do know he only wanted Phillips on loan. We do know we had a lot of midfield injuries so neither are assumptions
You don't know why he wanted him you've just rolled with your assumption as fact. Unless you are Eddie a Howe you can't know.
Clearly v Man City and Man United Howe didn’t get it wrong. V Everton any player could have messed up, it’s not down to Howe.
We had no money, that is a fact so he was 100% only coming on loan. We had loads of midfield injuries, fact. Where’s the assumption?
So if it's not down to Howe he should get no credit for those wins or last season. The fact is he didn't get it right vs Everton and Newcastle lost, so people are questioning his decision. He's the manager he knows he's judged on his decisions and results.
Where did I say it’s not down to Howe that we won those games? He selected Dummett for both and won both yet you said he had done something wrong. The evidence ( something you always quote) from those games was that Dummett should be fine for a short spell there v Everton so there’s no “evidence “ that that was a wrong decision. Any player can make a mistake something you seem unable to accept
It doesn't matter what people thought or said about dummett. The fact is some of us know he's useless and in this game Howe made a call and it didn't work. This is the key to this and its that managers are judged on their decisions and results and even they know this. If he had brought on a player and he'd scored a goal people would say it was a great substitution.
More accurately you just don't understand something mate. I'll try to explain again and it's that you do not know what Howe was thinking in relation to Phillip's.
It doesn't matter was the answer and then I explained why. BTW I asked you a question aswel ages ago.
I’ll answer it - he played in those games as centre back not left back. The youth players are better. Dummett should be nowhere near the squad no matter what. I’ve never rated Dummett as a left back. As a centre back he’s a good 4th choice
Like I said it was no assumption that we had no money hence loan. It was no assumption that we had loads of midfield injuries so what’s your point?
