Armed struggle and resistance is fine. Going into another country to rape and murder innocent civilians, is not.

If another group replaced Hamas and done what they done they’d also be terrorists.

I agree.

I think the fact that Palestinians are entitled to armed resistance from their occupiers is a fundamental tenet of international law that seems to get conveniently overlooked in all of this though.

If Britain had imposed a regime of control over Ireland similar to the one Israel is placing on Hamas, the IRA would have found it almost impossible to operate within Ireland.

The IRA, ANC and other groups often lazily used as examples when discussing the future, tend to ignore that these had the benefit of the Cold War. A large organization like the USSR willing to equip any anti western group, often, no strings attached.

Hamas, or a copy cat group, would have to first receive arms from a dodgy provider with strict instructions to follow, like Iran, they would have to operate mostly outside of Palestine, and then there is almost no way to fight a conventional armed resistance without resorting to acts of terrorism.

There will always be armed resistance groups in the middle east, unless you lop off heads. That's the rule of law.

The most peaceful nations in the Middle East also happen to have populations like 10% Arab 90% migrant workers, aka majority populations who just don't give a **** about regional issues.

Aye

Are any weapons supplied ethically though ? I'm sure every arms dealer can find a moral justification for supplying arms to their choses combatants.

The west might be aghast at Palestinian resistance groups getting arms from Iran, Lebanon etc. But then good old blighty and BAE systems etc are more than happy to supply arms to the Saudis with their atrocious human rights records and indeed to Israel who are committing war crimes against the Palestinians

Indeed. Have they sorted that nonsense out yet ?

At least countries like South Africa and China can call this aggression out for what it is and make a case to the ICJ

Whereas our lot bicker like school kids in the playground about who's turn it is to have a go next.

Alexei Navalny's mother has been told to agree to a "secret" burial for the Putin critic within three hours, Mr Navalny's spokeswoman says.

Otherwise, she was told, he would be buried at the Arctic Circle penal colony where he died a week ago.

Mr Navalny's mother has said she has been forced to sign a death certificate saying he died of natural causes.

Nothing shady about that :bandit:

Israel is now threatening to pull out of Eurovision if they are requested to change their song or any of its lyrics that reference the events of October 7th ...

Eurovisuon is supposed to be non-political and a celebration of hope and optimism ... hence the song is currently under review by the organising body ...

Personally, I have no problem with the song ... provided there is a backdrop showing the numbers of dead Palestinian women and kids at the time of the rendition... has to be balanced and reflect the composite European view of the situation as a whole .. after all, Israel is already receiving the concession of being allowed to participate in the event despite not actually being in Europe ... <cheers>

That's because they have a silly method of writing

Even worse than the Arabs mate, who write everything backwards from right to left

Chinese go one further and write everything from top to bottom too.

What happened there reminds me of Life of Brian when Judith is trying to get the Judean resistance to attempt rescuing Brian ... ...
