Would people be happy if we signed Burstow permanently? There is a rough diamond in there I think. Needs to work on a lot of stuff mind. Might be overly positive but I think I would be happy.

I’m also not that arsed about going up and happy to see us build and improve each window.

It's hard to say but Chelsea rate him and we've started him in an important game ...

... CFs are so scarce you'd have to consider it I'd have thought.

He showed some passion for the first time after he scored.

We are statistically a better team with him in it. I like him. He has shown flashes of real quality, Sheff Wed when he played a lovely ball out to Clarke for his goal and his turn for the penalty was superb. Like the rest of our strikers though he has been hung out to dry by the coaches not setting up the team to create chances for the striker, Beale seems to be changing that though.

He looks like Simms without the goals to me but he's young and it's early days. Frankly he's been dire so far, could be the case he's been lacking confidence and now he's scored he'll crack on.

If I remember rightly he came in after the Southampton game and we were flying. Sure we won 5 out of 6 at that time or something and the football was largely good. I remember in particular watching one game and thinking he looked like a lad someway from 1st team ready. It was a painful watch and I think he was off after 60 mins or so. The game seemed to pass him by and he had no idea how to involve himself. Other games he was better, but my point is I dont really give much credence to Burstow being major a contributory factor to those stats personally.

That being said I like him, was pleased to see him get his goal and I hope he goes and gets another 10 second half of the season. As it stands now I wouldnt turn the loan into a perm, personally.

Yeah I don't think I would make it permanent I just struggle to judge any of these forwards playing in the system we've been playing this season. I'm not sure someone like Moore would fair any better either.

There is a change under Beale. More numbers in the box late. Burstow made some good near post runs at the weekend and the likes of Ekwah would arrive from deep and Ba from wide. From what looked like we were undermanned we suddenly had options in space in the box. It is why O was pleased he got his goal, because his unselfish centre forward play created space for others. Helps when Clarke looks up as well of course, his pass for Ba was inch and weight perfect. Really enjoyed that goal from a footballing perspective personally.

Re not going up; speak for yourself mate. I’m hoping I live to see safc established in the premiership, when I think we’ll start to see the owners bringing in some top players. We don’t all have yonk years to look forward to.

I shouted at the bloke next to me, 'That's football'.

He was going nuts, at the time, but gave me a big thumbs up ...

... I've watched the full 90 minutes twice, it was all impressive, apart from the weak tackles on the edge of our box.

I loved the attritional 'backs to the wall' stuff with Ball, Elliot, Chisholm, etc but this is like watching a different game.

It took some getting used to but I'm getting there.

The old 'blood and guts' days made the crowd noisier, and more obviously passionate, but this is great when it works.

Was talking to a Forest fan today about Lingaard. I know he seems a bit of dafty, but the lad has talent to burn. The forest lad said he was so good at times it was crazy, but fizzled out. The lad is 31 years old, only. 3 years left at the top if he wants it. I cannot fathom how players like him sit and not play. I look at Barkley at Luton and think good on you, playing, and having a resurgence too. Too many these days seem to drift, mid career, out of the limelight. I dont know, the game has changed and Lingaard is probably set for life. Just imagine though, if he went somewhere and just played natural, he could be a hero at the club forever, and I mean a club like us. Not saying we should, but man there are some players who need to be on the grass entertaining fans.

Mate how the game has changed is barmy. I started at Roker when we cheered tackles as loudly as goals. Now I love a move like that more than anything. I had to do my coaching badges, and I grumbled through them all (not once did we talk about coaching tackling and heading, well heading once but that is a long story). Now I try to just love the game for its beauty. Brazil 82 is my most favourite side, and football in this country is near to that now, and I am pleased.

Last night I spent a few hours with the county FA talking about what should be in the plan for 24-28, which launches in June. Loads of discussion about how to coach the modern player and the modern child. Lots of exciting stuff too. Some of the stats about participation at 7,8,9 is brilliant and we have so much to look forward to I think. That said, there are threats, mainly player and coach behaviour, in the pro game, filtering down. I predict a major change in approach discipline based on last night, appetite and anger is high. Probably for the best too. The game is beaitiful, apart from when players behave ugly.

Sorry, a ramble, I agree that we play some cracking stuff. Shame we cant have the odd hefty challenge without 12 blokes demanding that the ref overreacts though.
