Give Bennette the first team football he needs whilst getting Mundle embedded into the club. FWIW I don't think Bennette is as good as we want to think he is. The club has spent 18 months looking at him and not played him regularly.
Develop two lads with potential at once? Is the only thing I can think of or maybes this lads more ready for regular footy, who knows
Right footed winger who can be a backup for now but needs time to adapt which he will for 6months before we sell Clarke in the summer, then Mundle is the direct replacement. There's your '****ing point'.
The more I read the more I'm quietly excited about this signing. He was one of the best players in PL2 last season. Don't think he's going to come in and set the world alight by any stretch. But he's one come next season that could make a real difference.
I liked bennette, always seemed to pop up with a goal or assist in the very limited game time. God knows why he wasn't given more of a chance.
Always seemed a bit erratic to me. Definitely a talent there but very raw. Think a few months of first team football does him the world of good. In an ideal world we start next season with two players competing for the gap Clarke leaves. Bennette and Mundle could be the two.
Possible so that there's very little transfer speculation so the media don't ask a million questions, dunno mate.
I think it’s right in a way. Not seeing we don’t also need a bit of readiness in the squad but as young players develop some need to go out, some don’t make it, some are ready for first team experience. As long as you get them at a good price you don’t lose much either way and some are big wins. This lad looks like one who is ready tk get some minutes when he’s settled in. If you think of him filling the experience gap I can see it isn’t the answer, if you want a baller for next season in readiness for some likely departures maybe. If Bennette gets games and confidence on his loan you can add him to the list.
Stoke were rumoured to be in for Mundle aswell, he must have watched the game at the weekend and thought "Stoke are s***e".
We signed Clarke after not making an impression at Spurs. We signed Roberts after not making an impression at anywhere he played since Celtic. Plenty more examples. Do you think Spurs offered him a long term deal because he's ****? Sometimes things don't work out at certain clubs and you can't hold that over a player.
And in a years time we might be sending this lad out on loan. Ad infinitum. Just like to see us sign somebody this window, proven and ready to go. I know I'm going to get pelters here but it's purely my opinion and if it all works out and we get promoted with these lads in the next few seasons then I'll be first to hold my hands up but this model is starting to wear me down a bit. Just seems there's hardly any flexibility to it. Even at Brighton you have a sprinkling of experienced lads in like Milner, Welbeck, Dunk etc.
Have we sent Cirkin, Alese or Ekwah out on loan? These are all lads who similar to Mundle were starring in PL2 and have come in and been championship ready for us. Don't write the lad off.
