And he's clearly saying we have the money ... ... that won't go down well in some quarters. You'll have to take that up with people who keep demanding statements from the club mate.
Agree with most of that but where it falls down for me in that statement is we won't sign any player who doesn't fit and won't make a difference. Well take someone like Kieffer Moore for example, he won't fit into "the model" but every man and his dog could see that he would make a big difference up front for us and improve us, but no way would Speakman etc look to sign him. Bit of stubbornness there. Imo of course.
he's said we are after another cm but then take that out of it, got a very negative personality with the club
I think he will not fit long term...Moore is 31...but he may make a difference short term. Problem is,we won't get him on short term, therefore he doesn't fit, and,he'll have no sell on value. It's not stubbornness,it's just not willing to commit ourselves to a short term, costly attempt at a fix, which may or may not work. I don't blame him...we have been burned before.
Don't see anything wrong with what Speakman says above. He specifically says we want to sign a midfielder and a striker but won't just sign anybody. Which is very very fair.
I’d rather we carry on as we are rather than panic and bring in and ndong for example, your then stuck with a player on a contract when your original target could become available in 6months time
Can't disagree with anything he says there tbh. Some people seem to have an unbreakable mistrust...not of the club, per se...but KS himself.
A long way of saying Yann isn’t the answer but we are lacking a CDM. As you say though much better to be more forensic in our approach.
This was after the last summer window. Clearly not enough value out there unless they are loans with a view to being permanent.
If that's the decision we've made then we could look for a younger specialist to cover while he gets back fit. We don't currently have a player with that skill-set available.
I think it's how we use the loan market. In years gone by we've loaned players with no plan to replace them when they go back. Nothing wrong with a stop gap if we can get who we want in the summer.
Interesting that there appears to be a lack of out and out strikers available at almost every level. Reading earlier about Arsenal,Spurs,Chelsea who are all apparently on the search. Drop that down to our level,it seems as though it's contagious...very few who fit the bill, which is why i think there's a lot of chat about players who play in wider positions, who can become prolific strikers.....I suppose the best example at the moment is Salah.....and it goes back to Henry. Our best striker this season is Clarke. An interesting development. Conversely of course, Man City have the best out and out striker in the PL.....Pep,the genius, sees the future.
