Rosenior hasn't had options available. With Philogene back, Carvalho signed, plus two other wide options coming in we now have four natural wide players before we have to consider central options.
Carvalho isn't a natural wide player though, is he? He's a 10 but he's slight so he gets played there like Vaughan
I take your point, but I guess this is more to do with finances and as far as Allahyar is concerned playing time. Yes, ideally keep them both around, but I guess you have to balance the books so to speak, and it maybe that there got an offer in for Lokilo so on balance he has been allowed to leave.
He' not a natural winger in my book, he's good at receiving the ball, NOT taking his man on and passing sideways on a good day, and backwards every day. I can do that and I hung my boots up a while ago.
Philogene, Omur, A new winger, Vaughan all as natural wingers. With Carvalho more than capable of also playing out wide. 5 for 2 positions is fine
It’s all just a bit summer 2022. Send Twine back and get Carvalho in, yes great business. Could be argued we didn’t really need Twine in the first place with Tufan and Traore both first team quality players for that one position, but that’s besides the point. Now we’re allegedly spending millions on this Omur who also specialises in the same position. 4 expensive top quality first team players for one role, a large chunk of money which could be much better spent elsewhere. Going back to the first sentence re 2022, it’s starting to feel like we’re just signing good players because they’ve become available not with any particular plan of building a team out of them.
Interestingly, there were twins Roger & Pete De Vries who were at Wolfreton when I was there, both were good players, but Pete in my opinion was better than Roger but when City scouts here watching Roger had a good game and was picked up to play for us.
Giles and Omur and Pandur are decent age group with probably plenty of improvement to come for the future if they manage to keep any of loans then it looks like they are building a decent team and at prices that could have cost alot more in the future.
Although I understand the concern regarding transfers in and out I think the owner is doing a great job trying to improve the team. He made transfer mistakes in the past, he will in the future, but you can't fault his commitment and investment in trying to move this club forward. Drain the swamp!
Not to mention with loans going back in the summer, they have several months in and around the first team plus training to integrate better, and leaves us less exposed if we don't go up
Not sure if I missed this earlier but the last I knew, we had an option to buy Giles if we wanted in the summer. Reports today are suggesting its an obligation. I wonder if thats been the hold up over the last week? Maybe we tried for an option but Luton insisted on it being an obligation. Also reports today are saying the fee is up to £5m, not the £4m previously reported by Baz last week. Could be nothing at all, perhaps Baz simply got his facts wrong last week and it was always going to be an obligation to buy in the summer for £5m, which is what Luton paid for him in the summer.
Yes the players he is doing deals for now will still be with us if we are not fortunate enough to go up this season.
I think this notion of having to have out and out wingers isn't really as big a deal as some are making out. If Giles signs he and Coyle will provide width so it is more a creative 3 behind a main striker. Philogene will generally be wide and Carvalho can too. If it ends up being Omur as the third I think you will see a lot of swapping around and drifting inside. Will certainly be more fluid than a 442.
Omur has played a lot wide right too. Carvalho naturally drifts wide with his style too. Think we’ll be fine
We'll find out when it's announced, little point in worrying about the terms when we've no idea what they are.
