What about a central midfield trio of Skuse, Douglas and Hyam - creativity at its finest. I know this wasn’t Hurst but my gawd, the rubbish we had to put up with for years makes me even more grateful for what we have now
Just been looking back over the posts, they got a bit tense at times but the one standout was canary Dave's post about cancer and peeing blood, I hope I haven't missed anything and I hope all is ok now. I ****ing hate the budgies, their fans and everything about them BUT....I would never wish bad health on any of them and just prey that all went ok for Dave!!
I am banned from their not606, dunno why but heyho, so I can't see who posts on there and what has been said
Actually....I do know why, might be something to do with calling them a bunch of six fingered sista shaggers
Ffs, what an absolute bummer!! Didn't realise, maybe It was mentioned on here and I commented on it but can't remember. If I didn't... I will raise a glass of rioja and toast Canary Dave!!
Ah ok, thanks for the info Redruth, nearly 4 years ago....I probably did know and have just forgotten. Damn this getting old ****, memory really is pretty poor these days...grrrrrrrr!!
At the time of Cook coming in, i listed all the players to have been culled at the time - wonder if there's any we'd take back (at their prime) Bennets (L) Bishop Chambers Cornell Dobra Downes Dozzell Drinan Edwards Folami Harrop (L) Hawkins Holy Huws Judge Kenlock L. Thomas (L) Lankester Matheson (L) McGuiness (L) Morris Nolan Norwood Nsiala Nydam Parrot (L) Sears Skuse Vincent-Young Ward Wilson
Downes is the only one on that list who'd go any way towards improving the current squad.1 out of 31,phew!What a lot of deadwood was culled!
I think it says it all that the one player you can single out has had an opportunity in the top flight and failed to take it.
Other than Downes, At their prime, I would also take Bishop (when he 1st came into the team) and either Edwards or KVY - 10 games is a very small sample but when KVY 1st came to the club, he was unbelievable
Agree Royston, only Downes for me. Others maybe could do a job prime KVY those first few games before injury would be on the team sheet, plus someone like Norwood (not above a Hirst) but probably useful to come on and ruffle a few feathers, make things happen in the second half. Hopefully Al Hamadi will now be that player but can't judge yet. We still lack a player with movement to really attack the ball when we put crosses in the box, still an area for Hirst to improve on. With alot of those players you wonder if they'd have come into the team now for example with a better culture how they would have done, especially some of the younger ones. Its very challenging particularly when you lack experience to flourish in a toxic culture. Plus I also wonder whether some of them wouldn't have had the long term injuries they had with a better culture and more support.
