Football is the most horrible and ruthless business in the world and arseholes are everywhere. Speakman might well be one of them but couldn't really care what he's like tbh and if he's ruffled a few feathers so be it. We were an absolute laughing stock for years, many ex players said as much and treated us like a retirement home, so if he's changed things up and made it a more professional environment I'm all for it
Well I'm assuming not Speakman, but both blokes are mentioned. And to be fair if Speakman is as bad as everyone says he won't have any mates, would be a solo trip!
lol, Callum styles over next few days I bet, I’m waiting for @Prehab26 @Magnus @Wheatsheaf @Bob the Mackem @Smug in Boots or @Scout73 to tell us, all well connected. Apologies to any other itks I’ve missed.
If we get Styles are we allowed to judge him over a few games or do we have to say he is **** or brilliant before he has kicked a ball?
I think a lot of what happens in transfers depends on how the deals are struck at the time of the sale. E.G Stewart was 10 million but is on a 5 year contract so we may only receive 2 mill per year. Add to that FFP is on a 3 year rolling cycle and is about to change from 120% of turnover to 80%. IMO the available funds can become a lot more complicated than we sold him for 10 million so we have 10 million to spend but I do know that you can then leverage future funds for purchases against what you expect to receive. I do however understand that the loan with option to buy may be more beneficial to a club like Barnsley as it may well help their balance sheet depending where they sit in their 3 year cycle and on their respective tax reporting ETC.. I basically agree that if we wanted him on permanent then I think the funds would be available but we may well be trying to strike an agreement which suits Barnsley a little more than us but gets us our target with a loan and obligation deal. As far as I am aware I don't think the club have ever stated there is no money to spend in fact I think it was quite the opposite as KS stated a while ago that if there was a deal to be done for the right player at the right price then there was funds available so at the minute I am not panicking and just waiting to see what transpires. Hopefully we get a DCM in but we all know value and quality are hard to find in the January window.
Feels like a Winchester signing - league below, not necessarily what we need/want but could be a canny signing OR ****e obviously, Beale and Speakman out
ah look at that mate a nice debated reply with out getting angry or going off it, nice to see poster like that and also nice to read
Was hoping it wasn't just a lazy link in respect of everyone we get linked with they put Birmingham and Hull in the mix too.
I think there's more than a whiff of everyone beginning to believe their own press at the club. You can see it on and off the pitch. It's all been good up until the last three or four months. Complacency and the arrogance that can take hold when everyone is talking positively about you is a real danger to the progress we've made. It happens everywhere.
Just my thoughts mate and to be honest I am normally quite a positive person and feel myself trying to get back to that, our fan base has took a bit of a kicking lately in terms of media coverage and the direction the club seems to be going,. I am struggling to see the long term plan but still think that when our support and club pull in the right direction then we can become a force in this league, I just believe that we have adopted a more negative style of football to try and reduce goals conceded and to also shoe horn players into the team and for the last 12 weeks or so it has not really worked. We signed some great young exciting striking talent and then changed our style of play and we rarely create chances for them (Rusyn has probably only really had 3 or 4 good chances since he arrived and has hit the post and scored another and that really puts it into perspective). So my choice at the moment is to stop and think about situations and try to have a process of thought behind my opinions and look at the big picture. I thought Mowbray had a good run and think either he or the coaching team decided on the change of style to this more defensive and labored build up which resulted in him being relieved of his duties, I am still waiting patiently for MB to have some effect on the first team but in truth I fear that unless results or more importantly performances improve he may end up being sacked before he gets to 10 games ( I would rather admit a mistake if that is what it is deemed to be than continue on the wrong path in hope). In all I will support the club KLD and even KS as I believe they have earned a bit of trust and support from us in these knee jerk times but I hope they don't keep making mistakes as like everybody you only have so much credit in the bank.
You and me both. I thought he was a cracking prospect, him, Neil and a CDM in a midfield 3 would have been lovely to see
