They must try out different variations with the defenders, maybe without midweek games Beale can experiment. I agree, Seelt along with Rusyn must wonder what more they have to do to start regularly.

Maybe play Hume in CDM and Seelt at full back. Might release Neil to further forward.?

I am mate. Luke is not a midfield player.

I thought the same about Kirchoff when he made his debut, but quickly changed my mind, in complete contrast Stan Varga looked tremendous in his first game , you cant really judge on one game and I believe midfield is were O/9 played before moving to CD., i think he makes a decent fist of anywhere he plays tbh.

O9 has played CM loads for us so not really judging on 1 game

Still think signing a cm might be our most important signing this month, free neil up to play the box to box role hes so good at

Maybe just sit him ten yards in front of the centre halves.

Although goals were a huge part of his game before he was here, it's a shame we've lost that.
Bit of a blunt instrument in that role though wasn't he? I don't think he gets in our side much further forward.

O'Nien playing defensive midfield strikes fear into me. He'd be fine out of possession but people forget we are a possession based team and the midfielders need to be incredibly comfortable receiving the ball in tight areas, it's taken Neil years to cut down on the mistakes when receiving the ball on the half turn. Luke has done great to carve out a career at this level as a defender considering he was brought in as an attacking minded midfielder, but he doesn't have the technical ability to play midfield for a promotion chasing side.

It true mate. Doesn’t matter if we love the lad.

I love my missus but wouldn’t ask her to play CM. Or park…

That's putting square pegs in round holes, which is something we need to get away from imo.
I know, I know, square pegs in round holes but Seelt in CDM might be decent. He’s very good on the ball, quicker than Hume and O’Nien to cover more space and get back to snuff out danger. Probably too big an ask for a 20 year old in his first season now I come to think about it!

Worth a look mate. PSV bred so they have a lot of the ball.

It’s not that players can’t be converted, more that some have been tried and failed.

Some of the worlds best shifted positions early doors.
