It would feel like a massive moment if we sold Clarke in this window. He provides so much. I get the argument that we are over reliant on him, but that is because he is so effective. If he was half as effective he would get much less of the ball in my opinion. Any sale in Jan must come with a price premium for me. Then we must do it soon so we can reinvest properly in Jan, hard as that is to do. The more I think about it the less I think the club will want to sell a big player this month, unless the price tag is massive. If Clarke went this week, and we ended up outside of the play offs, it would be a problem for those in charge.
Personally don't think clarke would want to go to West Ham, he's had a big money move to the smoke and couldn't wait to get back up north. Midlands or Lancashire/merseyside his next move
Agreed, he would be a massive loss. Hes a match winner n they are so hard to replace, especially in January
Regarding reinvesting any income: I can’t remember who said it (Bob?) but January can actually be a good time to buy players as some will be in the last 6 months of contracts. That was the case with Ross Stewart.
Last year we had goals from Amad and Stewart (some of). The year we have Clarke. To improve we need three goal scorers on double figures or thereabouts to improve on last year.
Good point. We got Stewart ahead of the old firm because we put some money up whereas they wanted him on a free 6 months later.
Think Ross would've been cheap at anytime of his contract hadn't pulled up many stones and with injuries on top
West Ham might have lost Bowen for a little bit but I doubt they'll be replacing him with Clarke. He's been playing at CF for them due to Antonio being out. Antonio has had set back in his recovery and could be out for a further 6 weeks. I reckon a striker will be more important for them. Plus, they've got loads of wingers.
Just been on sky sports news transfer show about West Ham being after Clarke and it's one to keep an eye on. Maybe their is more to this one and if so I hope it's more than 20 million! Spurs signed Spence for that after 1 good season and a full back isn't worth as much as a goal scoring winger who's done it consistently over a longer period of time.
Clarke would jump at the chance to join an established premier league club in my opinion. And I don’t think he could be blamed. I just hope if it happens we get a fair fee
West Ham be a great move for him to be fair, they happy to move on Fornals and Behrama so he would likely get some playing time. Be ****ed when Bowen back if they sign a striker cos he isn’t Bowen or Kudus level.
We have to forget what Moyes was to us as a manager. He has won them a European trophy and got them fighting for CL playing cracking football. I hate the **** but he is a good gaffer. Was the wrong club, time and match.
