Would need a BCB regular to confirm if that is a SAFC pieces of memorabilia tbh. I've never been in there.
Seems to me this is a stunt, by a Mag who's somehow got on the inside, intended to wind us all up. Or worse, unsettle things within the club. And it's worked on some people.
On balance you'd think it was a bit of Sunderland memorabilia that's been misunderstood. If it was a present from the mags it'd be a picture of Dreyfus with "****" pasted over his forehead, they aren't that subtle.
I think they probably have been naive and ballsed up at the club, I’m just not that bothered and see the funny side. There’s enough outrage in the world, signgate is pretty minimal all things considered. I fully expect us to be a basket case forever but I still love the club and I’ll enjoy the surprise if I’m wrong
In my opinion, it really doesn't matter who is to blame...either some rouge Newcastle contractors who got over ambitious or someone in our commercial department who sanctioned this. Bottom line is.....it simply should not have been allowed in any circumstances. I'm a big fan of KLD and just hope he clears this mess up and make the culprit or culprits known and deals with them. Its an embarrassment to our city and our club.
Bit late to the party but is the below correct? It also said the Black Cats Bar, which will serve as a corporate hospitality area for visiting fans, would be returned to its previous state before the lunchtime kick-off.
Serve them red ale with a nice white head at the bar, that'll **** with them and we still make a profit. Food options could be underdone pigs in blankets Red velvet cake Beetroot sandwhiches on white bread with the crusts cut off Popcorn served in red and white cardboard boxes
As a side issue, I just hope all those kicking off a fuss about the club looking like a laughing stock remember this the next time they head through Newcastle for a night out, meal or to go shopping.
I suppose I can imagine scenarios where someone has naively (but possibly well-intentionedly) thought this was a good idea. Either way, by kicking off about it (and starting protests and demanding KLD leaves etc) it's handing the mags a PR and psychological victory before a ball has been kicked.
Right it seems to be down to the fans and the team to come together and try get a result. What’s your plans for tomorrow? Off to the Terrace for 9 for a pint with my elder lad and mates and bait and then a crawl to the ground to meet my younger lad. Then trying to take our ground back with a wall of noise.
I haven't commented much on this but it is a clear shambles PR wise. It sadly sums up the off field operations. Much has been done on the field. Good foundations but in any business goodwill is lost in a flash. I trained at a time when Arthur Anderson were huge but within a couple of days their reputation and name were virtually gone. Ratners are another example. KLD does need to repair the damage. Anyone saying it doesn't matter have not read the room I work with some Mags - they didn't take the piss they were staggered. Anyway it's the day before the match. Let's make the stadium rock - these young lads deserve it. The rest can be sorted away from the game.
I think this is the only scenario, if it was indeed someone within SAFC. What's the alternative? Someone has intentionally torpedoed their own career for the sake of a little banter?
Depends who's done the work I suppose. If it's contracted out, I can imagine some Mag thinking "what a great opportunity to wind them up". If its in house, then it must be someone who's over-eager and a bit wet behind the ears, who's been told "calm down the Sunderland branding to not give the unwashed any provocation to smash things up in there" and they've gone over the top with it thinking they were doing the right thing. I can't believe that KLD and anyone else at the top level has said "make the Black Cats Bar a haven for all Mag-kind".
The fact people think the club have bent over backwards for Newcastle, yet they do it most weekends themselves.
