Second half of the season is 19 games. Last 19 games of the 2010-11 season: strongest side: United with 39 pts Last 19 games of the 2009-10 season: strongest side: United with 45 pts Last 19 games of the 2008-09 season: strongest side: United with 49 pts Last 19 games of the 2007-08 season: strongest side: Chelsea with 47 pts Last 19 games of the 2006-07 season: strongest side: United with 42 pts Last 19 games of the 2005-06 season: strongest side: United with 42 pts Last 19 games of the 2004-05 season: strongest side: Chelsea with 49 pts Last 19 games of the 2003-04 season: strongest side: Arsenal with 45 pts Last 19 games of the 2002-03 season: strongest side: United with 48 pts Last 19 games of the 2001-02 season: strongest side: Arsenal with 51 pts Where did you get the idea that Chelsea are traditionally the strongest side in the second half of the season? In the last 10 years, United have been the strongest side in the second half of the season on 6 occasions. Arsenal and Chelsea on two occasions. I'd say that that means United are traditionally the strongest side in the second half of the season. Last 10 games of the 2010-11 season: Both United and Chelsea attained 20 points Last 7 games of the 2010-11 season: United 14 pts, Chelsea 13 pts Last 5 games of the 2010-11 season: United 10 pts, Chelsea 7 pts Last 3 games of the 2010-11 season: United 7 pts, Chelsea 1 pt Where did you get the idea that the last time United finished stronger than Chelsea was in 2006-07? United finished stronger than Chelsea last season.
Because 07/8 we caught up a whole load of points to take the Prem down to the wire; 08/9 we finished strongest under Hiddink; we won the league in 09/10 coming from behind after thumping you at Old t; 10/11 we were 14 points behind you and got within three point of Man U. If we relaxed after securing European football and dropped some points in meaningless games that can scewer the stats. But we've hunted you down every season since 07/8 after a bad Nov/Dec and got close to United each time.
Firstly, I'm not a United fan. Secondly, the facts speak for themselves. You can go and check out the stats I posted in my previous post to confirm this. In the last 10 years, Chelsea have been the strongest team in the second half of the season on two occasions. The same amount as Arsenal. United on the other hand have been the strongest side on 6 occasions. That flies in the face of your claim about Chelsea traditionally being the strongest team in the second half of the season. Also, you said that the last time United finished stronger than Chelsea was in 2006/07. Again, the stats provided for last season show that you are wrong. You can deny these stats/facts all you like, but you are simply wrong to do so.

United finished stronger than Chelsea last season.[/QUOTE] You seem very confused. Are you defining finishing the season as last 19, 10, 7, 5, or 3 games of the season?
I'm defining finishing the season as the final 10 games. And the final 9 games, final 8 games, 7, 6, 5, etc. I've already given the stats for 10, 7, 5, 3, so: The last game: United 3 pts, Chelsea 0 pts The last 2 games: United 4 pts, Chelsea 1 pt. The last 4 games: United 7 pts, Chelsea 4 pts The last 6 games: United 11 pts, Chelsea 10 pts The last 8 games: United 17 pts, Chelsea 16 pts The last 9 games: United 20 pts, Chelsea 17 pts In the final 10 games, Chelsea didn't accrue more points than United. In the final 9 games, Chelsea didn't accrue more points than United. In the final 8 games, Chelsea didn't accrue more points than United. Repeat right down to the final game of the season. Ergo Chelsea did not finish the season as strongly as United. Its a statistical fact. (Source: statto.com) (For the record, I define the second half of the season as the final 19 games).
So which is it: 10, 7, 5, 3... you seem very confused. Chelsea finished the season strongest in 2010/11 getting 23 points to United's 20 from March onwards. We were 14 points behind them in Feb.
Its for the final 10 games of the season. AND the final 9 games of the season. AND the final 8 games of the season. Right down to the final game of the season. United finished the season strongest in 2010/11 getting 20 points to Chelsea's 17 from late March onwards.
Who gives a damn? Chelsea are always strong at the end of the season but that's often relative to our autumn dip. Man Utd are always consistent.
Chelsea record in March: W8 D2 L2 (including a loss and a draw once they had lost the league at old T) so actually got even more points than I thought: 25 in March 27 01.03.2011 Manchester United home W2-1 4 48 28 07.03.2011 Blackpool away W3-1 4 51 29 20.03.2011 Manchester City home W2-0 3 54 30 02.04.2011 Stoke City away D1-1 3 55 31 09.04.2011 Wigan Athletic home W1-0 3 58 32 16.04.2011 West Bromwich Albion away W3-1 3 61 33 20.04.2011 Birmingham City home W3-1 2 64 34 23.04.2011 West Ham United home W3-0 2 67 35 30.04.2011 Tottenham Hotspur home W2-1 2 70 36 08.05.2011 Manchester United away L1-2 2 70 37 15.05.2011 Newcastle United home D2-2 2 71 38 22.05.2011 Everton away L0-1 2 71 United in March W6 D2 L3: United got 20 points in March 28 01.03.2011 Chelsea away L1-2 1 60 29 06.03.2011 Liverpool away L1-3 1 60 30 19.03.2011 Bolton Wanderers home W1-0 1 63 31 02.04.2011 West Ham United away W4-2 1 66 32 09.04.2011 Fulham home W2-0 1 69 33 19.04.2011 Newcastle United away D0-0 1 70 34 23.04.2011 Everton home W1-0 1 73 35 01.05.2011 Arsenal away L0-1 1 73 36 08.05.2011 Chelsea home W2-1 1 76 37 14.05.2011 Blackburn Rovers away D1-1 1 77 38 22.05.2011 Blackpool home W4-2 1 80 You slipped the word LATE in your last post to hide your inaccuracy. There seems to be a bit of an ongoing argument between yourselves and a QPR fan (or two). Needless to say, us United fans aren't remotely panicking about the state of Chelsea. Whatever that state is.
Obviously, you are best side in the country until City prove otherwise; and still favourites for the league. All the best this season
