We are traditionally the strongest side in the second half of the season
The last time United finished stronger than us was 06/07
Second half of the season is 19 games.
Last 19 games of the 2010-11 season: strongest side: United with 39 pts
Last 19 games of the 2009-10 season: strongest side: United with 45 pts
Last 19 games of the 2008-09 season: strongest side: United with 49 pts
Last 19 games of the 2007-08 season: strongest side: Chelsea with 47 pts
Last 19 games of the 2006-07 season: strongest side: United with 42 pts
Last 19 games of the 2005-06 season: strongest side: United with 42 pts
Last 19 games of the 2004-05 season: strongest side: Chelsea with 49 pts
Last 19 games of the 2003-04 season: strongest side: Arsenal with 45 pts
Last 19 games of the 2002-03 season: strongest side: United with 48 pts
Last 19 games of the 2001-02 season: strongest side: Arsenal with 51 pts
Where did you get the idea that Chelsea are traditionally the strongest side in the second half of the season? In the last 10 years, United have been the strongest side in the second half of the season on 6 occasions. Arsenal and Chelsea on two occasions. I'd say that that means United are traditionally the strongest side in the second half of the season.
Last 10 games of the 2010-11 season: Both United and Chelsea attained 20 points
Last 7 games of the 2010-11 season: United 14 pts, Chelsea 13 pts
Last 5 games of the 2010-11 season: United 10 pts, Chelsea 7 pts
Last 3 games of the 2010-11 season: United 7 pts, Chelsea 1 pt
Where did you get the idea that the last time United finished stronger than Chelsea was in 2006-07? United finished stronger than Chelsea last season.
Because 07/8 we caught up a whole load of points to take the Prem down to the wire; 08/9 we finished strongest under Hiddink; we won the league in 09/10 coming from behind after thumping you at Old t; 10/11 we were 14 points behind you and got within three point of Man U.
If we relaxed after securing European football and dropped some points in meaningless games that can scewer the stats but we've hunted you down every season since 07/8 after a bad Nov/Dec and got close to United each time.
I'm defining finishing the season as the final 10 games. And the final 9 games, final 8 games, 7, 6, 5, etc.
I've already given the stats for 10, 7, 5, 3, so:
The last game: United 3 pts, Chelsea 0 pts
The last 2 games: United 4 pts, Chelsea 1 pt.
The last 4 games: United 7 pts, Chelsea 4 pts
The last 6 games: United 11 pts, Chelsea 10 pts
The last 8 games: United 17 pts, Chelsea 16 pts
The last 9 games: United 20 pts, Chelsea 17 pts
In the final 10 games, Chelsea didn't accrue more points than United. In the final 9 games, Chelsea didn't accrue more points than United. In the final 8 games, Chelsea didn't accrue more points than United. Repeat right down to the final game of the season.
Ergo Chelsea did not finish the season as strongly as United.
Its a statistical fact.

(For the record, I define the second half of the season as the final 19 games).
Its for the final 10 games of the season. AND the final 9 games of the season. AND the final 8 games of the season. Right down to the final game of the season.
United finished the season strongest in 2010/11 getting 20 points to Chelsea's 17 from late March onwards.![]()
Its understood by the bin dippers, and thats all that matters![]()
Is someone going to soon realise that we don't give a **** about either Chelsea or QPR?
Fair play Rusholme.
What have QPR got to do with this thread anyway?

There seems to be a bit of an ongoing argument between yourselves and a QPR fan (or two).
Needless to say, us United fans aren't remotely panicking about the state of Chelsea. Whatever that state is.
United are only marginally better than us at the moment although they are getting the rub of the green. City by a country mile.![]()
