Dunno if it's been mentioned already on this thread, but how quiet were the Preston fans? I mean the atmosphere around the stadium was flat as a fart anyway but think they were the quietest set of fans I've ever (not) heard.

Spoke to a mate who'd been to Hull & Rotherham and then the Preston game.

He said everyone was knackered after the away games, where he stands, and the atmosphere never got going. They only just made it in for kick off, cos of the turnstile issue, and then there was the silence for fans who'd passed away.

Once we'd scored twice that was game over and we just sat in and killed the game.

Smug...if the fans were knackered you can understand why the lads went through the motions second half.
That second goal made a huge difference to MBs HT team talk, you could see a lot of our lads were out on their feet, it was as well Prestons manager decided it was game over by then as his team never troubled Patto likewise we never troubled theirs in fairness.
Pity some of our fans were in high dungeon over our second half performance and don't see the bigger picture.
If our manager
admitted after the game it was lost by HT I'd be after having him sacked.

It doesn’t make it any better or acceptable but I think the booing was aimed more at Beale. Ba just became an unfortunate conduit.

The lads around me were itching to go off it and have a go at Beale from the start but he didn’t give them much reason to (I personally think this contributed to the relatively quiet atmosphere) until he brought on Ba. Ba then just took the flack from their frustrations.

Makes sense mate.

Pathetic that Sunderland supporters would put their prejudice before their club ...

... I cheered Gareth Hall onto the pitch every time he played ffs <laugh>

I think you are right,. I sit in the east stand and didn't hear the booing, I have just watched the full game on Sky and did hear something but not sure it was directed at Ba, if it was it's a ****ing disgrace, but the people around me and on the concourse also seem desperate to have a go at Beale.

Which is also a disgrace

For Beale to walk in 4 games in 10 days and he got 7 points I think that is very respectable total all things considered. Free hit next then off to Ipswich. All good so far for the lad!!!

Being generous, for a minute, lets say the Coventry performance was down to Dodds and Proctor which is possible ...

... that would make his form quite impressive.

Only 4 teams have more points since Beale came in.

4 games against 3 teams in playoff race and 1 relegation threatened team who have a pretty good home record, including draws with Leeds and Ipswich.

2 clean sheets.

A striker scoring.

Pretty good start if you ask me.

It’s been a decent start, no doubt about that but the draw at Rotherham was a poor result. We were ****e for large parts and the plan second half seemed to be the old ‘Give it to Clarke and hope for the best’. They definitely don’t have a ‘good home record’, either.
Hopefully Beale can set us up right against the filth at the weekend.

There's a couple of posters notable by their absence since the game yesterday. Can guarantee those posters, the most vocal critics of the Beale appointment, will be all over the board when we lose a game under him.

They've beaten Middlesborough, Norwich and Coventry there and held Leeds, Blackburn, us and Ipswich...

That the die hard Sunderland fans that love the club sooooooo much they just have to slag absolutely

Haha that the ones that absolutely love the club yet never ever have a good word about it or our fans?

80% of their points have came at home, draws with Ipswich and Leeds, beat Boro, have one less point at home than we do away. In the context of their season their home record is decent.

15 points from 13 home games this season. 20th in the home results table.

Exactly, it’s poor.

They’re a poor side who we should’ve beat. Other than that, Beale hasn’t done too bad so far.

They've lost games there against some teams in and around them, I listed some of their good results there and they're against better footballing sides which likely suggests they're more effective sitting in and nullifying the game as they did against us but struggle when they're expected to be more expansive and proactive. I think that's more relevant and applicable when assessing how we've faired in the grand scheme of things.
