It hasn’t occurred to many yet that he may just have been clipped and lost his footing as it doesn’t suit the narrative
Yet loads of pros and journos pointing out he had not made a poor touch and had an empty net to tap into and they can’t understand why he went down as it makes no sense
Well possibly then it’s the obvious answer which is however slight the contact was it was enough
Who knows
Probs only Jota
There lies the problem though, he did'nt.
The ball was getting away from him and two defenders were getting back between him and the goals, take a look at some of the replays and you will see.

A good point well made Duggie. It's a bit ridiculous for the scouse kettles to be calling the City pots, black. The Longstaff one not given was equally shocking.

The funny thing is if it was City having those decisions of course we'd all be saying so. But we'd have half the Livpl board on here doing the same as well <laugh>

I not overly fussed mate (see previous post)
I didn’t think any of them were pens tbh
Taylor is not anti Liverpool imho but he is an awful ref and always has been

I have posted this message loads on the Liverpool board

problem is he tries to let a game flow but in doing so becomes terribly inconsistent

I have always said I would have hated to play with him as ref as you don’t know how he is going to ref cause he just makes it up as he goes along.

I actually think he is trying hard - but if the game gets feisty he always loses control of it imho

I totally agree that there was a case for the longstaffe one
It wasn’t consistent
But Taylor never is - my major problem with him is that
The yellows he dished out tonight weren’t consistent either
Liverpool player says something - yellow
Newcastle player says something play on

same with Joel Linton who should have been carded way before he was - he packed in the ****ty fouls soon as he got his yellow

Taylor should be nowhere near the big games and tonight was one of his better ones

I think the whole thing is fcked. Why are some referee decisions so sacred that VAR won't touch them, yet all others are fair game. Not just tonight's game btw. So in general on field pen decisions they're reluctant to review, a second yellow they can't overturn. It's stupid beyond belief.

Yep
We have had a ref come out this season and say he basically cheated and there has been zero action
Says it all really

the refs answer to no one it seems to me
I think refs should have to explain their decisions like managers have to have interviews straight after the game or better still during the game
But it will never happen

I know tonight we have had some decisions in our favour imho but all it does is underline the need for better reffing standards in our game

I genuinely don’t know what the answer is because everything seems to make it more convoluted

the problem is the technology at the games now allows for constant replays and reviews

years ago you came away from a game convinced the referees a ****er but you didn’t have any evidence

now we do - it’s almost an impossible job being a ref now imho because everyone sees the game differently

If Newcastle had'nt just pulled a goal back that second pen would never have been given.
The refs can't be seen as biased but when there is only one goal in it they won't take a risk.

The best thing about the first penalty was the Mighty Egyptian God looking like a Sunday Pub League defender trying to score his first ever goal

Ah
Nothing new that
He’s done it before lol <laugh>
Take it you not a fan of Salah lol <laugh>

but he did put in a decent 2nd half <cheers>

He is a great player and without him you would not have won your recent trophies BUT, BUT it is the grown men commentating on the game acting and sounding like excited schoolgirls everytime he gets the ball that gets embarrassing and irritating

There's deffo contact, very clear and it unbalanced Jota who has no need to go down as he's about to tap into an empty net. Facts innit.
yep, both penalties were the trailing leg being clipped. People so used to seeing players fall over the moment there's contact fail to recognize when it happens more naturally. When your trailing leg is clipped whilst running, you stumble, then fall over.

Just man up and admit in public that ONLY TWO teams get almost every single decision in their favour in every single game they play LiVARpool and Man City
Utter bollox. But you won't be honest and admit it. There are probably stats that back me up but I can't be bothered with all that as it would be like an online forum version of VAR. Take your pills and watch some reruns of Dad's Army old fella it'll make you feel better.

If the same incident had been Gordon at the other end of the pitch I've no doubt most Liverpool fans would be arguing exactly the opposite to what they are now. They are not unique though in being a fanbase who expect all decisions to go their way, part of it is simply the modern game and coverage thereof. Players and managers don't help in this regard. I said a few times that it is what it is and I don't expect any different, maybe I should but I do not.
