baz seemed to think allsop will be back for Friday night

He's injured his abductor muscle, if it's a grade 1 strain, he'll be out for at least the next three weeks doing recovery. If it's grade 2, he'll be back at Easter. Grade 3 and it could be season ending. Rosie said "there's no timescale on Ryan", which leads me to believe the injury is probably a little bit worse than first feared.

I hope he's back, but honestly, with an injury like that I sort of hope he isn't and he gets fully rested. Last thing we need is a keeper with a glass hip.

The words 'no timescale' suggests to me that it's not likely to be a good one.

Why didn’t we keep Fleming, furlongs 21 now, he isn’t 16.
Matty Jacob has played less “men’s” games but he makes the bench.
We signed Simmons permanently and he’s not ready, he could have stayed at Chelsea and gone out on loan to l1

Matty Jacob played 33 games at Gateshead in the National League North, so he has played senior football, more so than Furlong has across his entire career (I'd love to say at a better standard, really I would).

Fleming wasn't good enough, I don't know why he was offered a bumper contract, but he's more of a wing back than a left back anyway.

Simons wasn't getting in this season, I don't know what's gone on with him, but to come from Chelsea to City, then not get in, then play a bit, then not get in again under two different managers and then go to Fleetwood and not get in seems a bit strange.

Yes, which isn't good news for our way of playing. So either a new keeper will be a priority or Ingram will have to start using those feet more. Or Rosie could change his system, of course. Maybe.

We'll be signing a new keeper.

Incidentally, I had a look at how Kovar is getting on in Germany for Bayer Leverkusen - he was a top target until we saw the price tag; he's been their Europa League keeper and he's kept 3 clean sheets in 7, conceding 5 in the process. Not bad.

He was loved up here too. Had his own song. Won conference norh.
played a season of proper mens football here.
But they did play the tippy tappy way...

You can judge the standard for yourself.

(I definitely endured worse at FER ARK in the 90s)

Bloody eyes, I read that as "a glass of poutine" and wondered a) just how hardcore Hull you were drinking chips, cheese and gravy and b) where the hell I could get a slice of that around here.

Asshole. Now have a craving for cheesy chips and gravy.

If I was 'hull' hardcore tho I'd be drinking it with chipspice and curry sauce instead of gravy - as I'm sure someone will likely come along and tell me in due course... <laugh>

Got me eying up the fryer and the lump of leftover cheddar in fridge.

I'm bloated enough as it is.

Bastard.

Re the lb position and I see the board is in full flow tonight.
Rosie wanted to operate with a smaller squad, so I assume possibly 2 players for every position roughly.
Why did we sign a lb with a dodgy injury record and sign a number 2 who even after 6 months isn’t ready.
Why did Rosie virtually force Fleming out the door in favour of someone who isn’t ready.
How is Matty Jacobs ready in terms of making the bench but furlong isn’t.
In fact what does “not ready” even mean, he’s a 21 year old pro footballer, how can you not be ready. What’s he been doing for the last 6 months and beyond

Matty Jacob has been out with a long term injury, but is highly rated, I've only seen him play once, but he was excellent.

Fleming's not good enough and we've messed up by giving him a contract no League One or Two team can afford.

Fleming was hastily given a contract, but he's not exactly ripping it up at a lower level and still hasn't played much football for someone of his age.

I don't think we'll see him again.

And I also think we felt we had cover in Greaves and Coyle to get us to January, as stated before.

Fleming's been out injured since October, hence the lack of football this season, but it's fairly academic as he's not good enough and wouldn't be our player if we hadn't given him a contract for more than he's actually worth.

I’ve a feeling Jacob might start against Wednesday. Might be a stretch on Friday, big home crowd and fluid Blackburn forward line.

Oh don’t worry, he definitely didn’t get everything right, the European journey will always annoy me, I went to the away games and got stopped by the water cannon in trencin. I’m sure if you asked most City fans they’d have prioritised going to the san Siri (who trencin got) over us potentially staying up which we didn’t. All I’m saying is he had a pull on some players we probably couldn’t have got without him.

firstly we lost to Lokeren not Trencin. Secondly Lokeren didn’t play either Milan team. They played Legia Warsaw, Metalist Kharkiv and Trabsonzpor

Mendez-Laing is the kind of player we need and shouldn’t cost too much. Fast, strong and will attack when he gets the ball. He does unpredictable things, which sometimes doesn’t pay off - but I like that from a winger!

I guess it’s low risk but my house mate supports Derby so I’ve had the displeasure of watching them quite a lot and as much as he is rapid, he is not very good technically and is often tripping himself up whilst dribbling. However, off the bench wouldn’t be the worst. I’d rather Blackett Taylor from Charlton if we are going down this route though. Just as quick but an incredible 1v1 dribbler
