I'm a little in two minds the more I think about it. When you look at the sides who do best in recent years upon promotion, it's sides who go up through the play offs (generally) and I believe that's because they know how to adapt their style to tougher games, whereas sides like Burnley and Ipswich (potentially) win such a huge percentage of their games that they don't have a 'Plan B' in most cases. In that sense, we might actually be well equipped to go up as we've had to play in a variety of ways in games this year.

I'd be curious to see what PL resources would get us, but a little nervous that Acun would use it as a chance to get high profile Turkish league players in, although hope Rosenior would be able to curb his enthusiasm.
I would hope Rosie would have the overall say in any players brought in, I think this season, he’s brought in players he wants, unlike last season.
Also I think Acun has realised he made a huge mistake with the players he did bring in, along with Shota. It’s a case of learning & still being able to be enthusiastic, the fact he’s not come out & said he’s made a mistake with his signings, but has stopped running round after players, shows he’s learnt something & if we do get to the PL, then I think he’d only be chasing players Rosie would like.

Steady progress was probably a harsh way of me categorizing it as going from a relegation scrap to top 6 in a year isn't really steady.

We've just been really smart in the market and long may that continue. Obviously Philogene gets all the plaudits but Allsop has been a huge signing in terms of playing out from the back, getting Connolly permanently was very smart and the use of the loan market has been astute too. We've not really had any flops from the summer transfer window. Some maybe haven't done as well as hoped but nobody has completely flopped

I would categorise Vinagre as a flop.

I completely agree and think if that's the case we'll continue to invest most heavily in domestic players with a sprinkle of international talent, rather than going back to the well of Turkish players.

He's certainly a conundrum to be fair. I rate him when I've seen him but he's not being picked, whether he's not showing enough in training or whether it's tactical, or whether it's a lack of 'robustness'. 2 assists in his last 2 appearances though so he's doing something right when he's playing. If he'd have stayed fit after the last appearance I think he'd be starting either left back or left wing until Philogene is back... But another injury puts a big question mark over him for a future with us.

Maybe, he can't stay fit but we knew the risk going in. I mean he's put in some good performances, Leicester springs to mind and he had a good cameo against Boro too.

I thought we'd go for a back up in the summer considering his injury record, but I suppose we did but Drameh turned us down.

I wouldn't quite yet.

But his chances of being one are 50% greater going into the second half of his loan than they were in summer. That's irrefutable.

There's no way he's worth the 15m obligation to buy if we get promoted. But if we do we'll likely have to spaff it up.

****s sake, stop it with Turkish Players.

There's nothing wrong with signing players out of Turkiye. Or anywhere else.

There were as many expensive decisions made about UK based players in that first summer so just look at what you're characterising.

For your own sake

Apart from that first widow when Acun was trying to change the identity of the squad and generate box office, we've seen a more targeted approach.

The owner is behind the gaffer.

What's with all this Turkish are ****e bollox?

Take a look at yourself. Most we've signed from Turkiye aren't Turkish, have played elsewhere and internationally so labelling them in such a way just highlights your arrogance, and ignorance to borrow a phrase. .

I don’t think Oscar’s fee with Metz is an obligation, only an option. In which case, unless he has a barnstorming end to the season for them, he’s almost certainly coming back to us, minus whatever value he had last summer.

I think you are probably right, no doubt Oscar agent will be looking around for somewhere else, as I am sure Acun and Liam will want him off the books.

He was a free. We've got 1m loan fee and 13 goals out of him for the price of a year's wages.

If worst case he leaves for nowt (but we'd still likely get a fee elsewhere) in summer it's still not bad business, but I'm pretty sure there was an obligation reported.

If he doesnt go there, then we have Oscar back where he knows he's not part of plans and we have 3m less - minus what we eventually get for him, to spend in next year's budget.

Relatively speaking.

Simple as that

Anyone know Sharp's coaching credentials? Obviously hasn't got much time left as a player so possibly looking at the next step?

That crossed my mind, I saw Regan's father tweeted his disappointment when the Blunt's let him go, as he thought he could still do a job for them, but also having him around the group as an attacking coach. Maybe that is the plan for us?

IMO a very good signing, he is a box player so doesn't need to run around a lot. I always remember Kevin Philips was knocking them into his late thirties, hopefully Billy can do the same for us!.

I was just reading an article about Hodgson possibly getting the elbow, to be replaced by Cooper and I noticed a linked article about Jesurun Rak-Sakyi. He's been out for over a month since suffering a grade three hamstring tear in training, so that might be the end of that link.

A mate of mine is a long term Blunts fan. He and many thought he would have done a job in Premier League. He says he’ll be great for the dressing room and regular cameos. Assuming we haven’t broke the bank, I think it’s a great signing.

Some people ITK might know more than me , but doesn't Oscar have dodgy knees, sure Rosie alluded to the fact at the end of last season. Was he medical botched a little as he was a free transfer and only an outlay on wages. I'd take our current striker force with Sharp than last years thats for sure.

He obviously passed a medical at Metz, so one must assume his knee was okay, I can't remember it being a long term issue when he was with us though.

Passing a medical doesn’t necessarily mean that he has a clean bill of health. Just means the respective club is willing to risk any issues.

Also I recall Rosenior mentioning Oscar had a longstanding ankle issue I believe which probably isn’t helping when it comes to knee injuries as well
