"The Conservative MP Miriam Cates, a high-profile figure on the party’s right wing, is being investigated by the parliamentary standards watchdog.
Cates, the MP for Penistone and Stocksbridge in South Yorkshire since 2019, is being investigated for “actions causing significant damage to the reputation of the house as a whole, or of its members generally”, a brief notice on the website of the commissioner for standards said.
The inquiry falls under paragraph 17 of the updated 2019 code of conduct for MPs, which says: “Members shall never undertake any action which would cause significant damage to the reputation and integrity of the House of Commons as a whole, or of its members generally.”

Now I went to comprehensive school not public school, then a technical college not a University, but as far as I understand everyone being privileged is an oxymoron. It is a contradiction in terms. And I only achieved O level English

That's exactly what I said to someone today. People like her and Captain Tom's daughter should stand up say "Okay I got it wrong, I am already very well off financially so I will pay the money back in full to rectify it" . Won't happen though
I lived in Ritson Street and read up on his history. He lost a load of money on shipbuilding and repaid it all back. A century later and we have people like MoneThat's exactly what I said to someone today. Penny Mordant seems to be implying some of the Covid enquiry witnesses have been telling lies about their messages. I’m very surprised.
