I still can’t get my head around how track and trace could have cost so much, other than pure greed from the companies providing it and sheer negligence from the government.

    Proper boils my piss

Mine too. Like all major govt (public purse expenditure)- we should get to see who has pitched for the contract, what their costings are itemising where the money is to spent, and justification for it going over budget.

What's absolutely sickening is that Sunak, and the Tory party co-conspirators, will happily grin and use these wasted amounts as absolute proof of their investment and commitment to providing a first class NHS. It's disgusting and what's worse is that they really believe they're fooling everyone ...

... either that, or worse, they don't give a f**k whether anyone believes them at all.

Having gone from the military, where stuff just kind of happens and we don't see the costings at the front line, to civvy street, I am often absolutely staggered by the sheer cost of stuff that's basically a couple of hours' work by a single person.

I can't go into specifics, but one is nigh on a hundred grand for pressing a couple of buttons. And people just pay it without batting an eyelid because they don't know any better. And when we challenged them on it, they knocked fifty grand off in the next sentence. It's crackers.

Mate of mine works for one of the big facilities management companies and works on a contract with a government dept. He told me they were asked to make some internal remodelling to one of the offices, charged £115k then subbed the work out for £38k. Not a word was said to them about it by the government dept and they still have the contract.

'the government', whoever was duly elected, do not spend their own money, all what they spend comes from the public in one form or another...they need to be accountable for every penny they spend because they are meant to represent the people and are given that 'power' because we trust that they will do a good job of handling such amounts.

recent years have shown that they do not care one jot, simply wasting billions and giving friends/families/donators 'free money' and they do not even try to lie about it...i do not have a solution, if i did i would be heading some new party to challenge them, but changes are needed asap.

It makes you wonder if Sunak is attempting to give away all our money to make it harder for the next lot ...

... Rwanda will end up richer than us at this rate <doh>

I actually have more confidence in all of the other parties than the current shambles running this **** show.

I didn’t think it was possible to set the bar so low.

I have every faith they are all a cut above this morally corrupt rabble.

It’s very lazy and disengenuous to say they’re all the same when clearly they aren’t.

When it becomes impossible to defend something, it's all people have left ...

... it's like after a football fan is stabbed the 'defending club' will claim all clubs are the same and it could happen anywhere.

As l see it, no one can stop anyone arriving by boat to these shores, the exceptions are the French, and the armed forces.
    Neither are going to happen.
The amount of money that has been wasted by this Parliament is enormous. When we have homeless living on our streets, people using food banks, and a lack of affordable home, it an utter disgrace.
