We'd need a very convincing, consistent run to push for that this season but there's no reason some of those above us won't continue with inconsistencies and other clubs go through rough patches. When we're on it though I feel like we can take anyone at the moment. It feels like we've come up with somewhat a solution to missing the wingers, though hopefully it only has to get us through to January.

I read Chelsea as saying he doesn’t wNt to go up, rather boss the Championship. I may have misunderstood.

I read that too, doesn't want to go up at all. Imagine trying to attract players in that scenario, 'come to Hull City, we win a lot of games but you'll never play in PL with us and you'll never earn PL money', hmm.

I think it's weird to not want to be promoted, you should always aim to be the best you can be in any walk of life.

I want us signing the likes of Diame and Hernandez again, I want us to have better training facilities, I want us to be talking about ground expansion, I want to see us give big teams the odd bloody nose, I want another FA Cup final, I want another European tour, I want us to be the absolute best we can possibly be.

If your aspirations are mediocrity then why bother. We should all want to be the best we can be.

Most of all I want to rub the local TWS noses in it again about us being Yorkshire's only top tier club. I just find the league itself hard to watch and it's probably even worse now with VAR

and that's why I get frustrated and p'eed off at times. I want us to be the best we can be and it's frustrating, even after all these years of supporting, when we aren't performing near where we can. Cardiff game was wonderful, long may it continue.

Considering there's not been too many seasons since 1904 that we've been top 6 in the second tier or better going into xmas, then I assume you're peed off most of the time.

That's the funny thing. I've watched City since 1969, and of course always hated losing, but I still loved going even when we were truly crap, when there were only a few thousand there, etc etc. Somehow I seem to get more frustrated these days. Maybe expectations changes from 2008 onwards? Or maybe I'm getting an increasingly miserable git as I'm getting older? Or probably both.

i get this & understand it, I want these things too but I don’t want to get dicked in practically every game by the big boys. Look at Burnley & sheff utd.
I would much rather be competitive in the championship than cannon fooder in the prem

But with the club under the right leadership, why couldn't we be a Brighton, Brentford, Wolves, Palace, Bournemouth, Fulham?
They aren't big clubs, but generally hold their own (with the occasional bounce).
The owner's ambitions are even higher than that. Surely ours should be too?

For every Bournemouth there are 10 failed clubs…Bolton, Wigan, Portsmouth etc etc

the premier league destroys clubs like ours. We’ve had 3 goes in the prem now over 15 years….whats the legacy? How has it helped us as a club move forwards?

I'd argue that under this ownership we're more like Brentford or Brighton, more recent examples, than the clubs mentioned above who were still run as provincial clubs by local businessmen

You can only be competitive in the Championship, by aiming to get to the Premier League.

I completely agree with all of this, except the Hernandez bit. I can never understand why he's held in such esteem here. He was decent in the Championship, but we signed him for huge money in the PL and he flopped. Shane Long, who he replaced, was much better, as was Jelavic.

Our last two ventures into the prem were ruined for respective reasons.

Under Duffen and Bartlett we spent way beyond our means and nearly paid the price for it I agree. We should’ve built on that with better facilities. If we’d somehow survived that second season then maybe it would’ve been different.

Let’s face it. The two ventures under Allam would’ve been successful if not for the behind the scenes issues. They withheld every penny they could and the infrastructure suffered for it. They wanted to build new ground and new training facilities but threw their toys out the pram when everything didn’t work.

I think the proof is in the pudding now with the current regime. He seems to have serious connections with Ulker and if you get the additional windfall from premier league TV money plus the ability to sell players with a premier league reputation all of a sudden you set up the club. They also seem very conscious of the financials surrounding FFP so don’t seem to be wanting to risk it.

I get partially not wanting to be in the prem because the gap between bottom half and the rest is widening and VAR seeming inept on a good week but to be honest you partially get the former in the championship now. Ipswich aside the top 4 is 3 of the expected teams.

It wasn't the PL's fault, it was ours.
    3rd time lucky (owner wise).

A striker with 39 goals and 10 assists, in 110 games, is always likely to be fairly popular with the fans, but you can swap him for Geovanni if you prefer.
