Having thought about it overnight - why not both Dodds & Beale? Head Coach and Assistant Head Coach?

Maybe Beale has indicated he's happy to work in that kind of structure with Dodds supporting him and that's why he came in from nowhere so quickly.

Dodds has earned a big voice in first team affairs imho - it's one thing winning because you can gee up a team or you're just a change of scenery from the last man (as people we've given the job to before did), but he's beaten two good Championship teams with setup, execution and substitutions.

I'm not proud of it ToT, I was born in Princess Mary's Maternity Hospital but my mother had the good sense to get me out of there at the earliest opportunity. :emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm

Here's a theory to perhaps try and cling to. People have suggested that the club had decided to give the job to Dodds but that Dodds only on Wednesday said he didn't want it and it's only then that Beale came into the reckoning.

Maybe Head Coach is going to be a more collaborative role than it was under Mowbray, with Dodds having more authority and more of a tactical say (rather than just being tasked with individual player development) and maybe Beale was approached as he was seen as the best fit/most accepting of this given his own strengths and skillset.

Edit: I made this post then the very next post after the one I've quoted is the Phil Smith Echo article saying kind of similar.

It would be very foolish of any new coach not to listen to those who know the players strengths. It’s almost inevitable they work with Proc and Dodds. I’d argue the last few weeks is evidence Mowbray didn’t listen enough which surprises me.

There's always going to be an element of ego involved but equally Dodds and Proctor may have considered themselves to be junior to Mowbray in the structure so may not have spoken up so much. Going forward, you'd assume Dodds will have more confidence to have input and the new head coach will be coming in to an environment where he's even more established. As you say, he'd be foolish not to listen to them...

Sorry to hear you feel like that. You should feel comfortable and relaxed at games when you're supporting the lads and amongst fellow supporters.

I've had the same from someone (I was born and brought up in Cambridgeshire and follow the lads because of my Dad) telling me I wasn't a proper supporter whilst I was sitting in my season ticket seat which I travel to for every home game - an 8 hour round trip. I'd not seen this lad before or since! I wasn't even gobbing off, it was just that my son had accidentally kicked the back of his seat a couple of times which I was very apologetic for. Some people are just dickheads regardless of where they're from or who they support, try not to let them bother you.

I can live with that - stating the obvious but a win and a loss gets you more points than two draws.

I’ve definitely calmed down from yesterday. I’m usually quite calm and measured but the Mags ticket allocation and the fact the club appear, from the outside, to have been complicit impacted my reaction to the Beale news.

I’m still very underwhelmed by Beale. As much due to how he conducts himself and comes across as his footballing background. I
can see why the club are potentially going for him. On the pitch they deserve some trust so I’ll hope that, not for the first time, I’m wrong.

    Nope your a bit out.
Neil has to give stewarding instructions and numbers, and if he thinks the allocation is manageable by those stewards, once inside its on him.
All 4 parties have to agree it will besafe inside the SOL.
You needn't brag at what games you have been to, I was there aswell.

    Agreed - that’s a well written article.

Interestingly, it also says almost nothing new beyond what’s already posted here. It just sticks to facts (such as they are) and uses some common sense.

I’m not that excited by Beale, but there’s a subjective, somewhat irrational aspect to my opinion. Given our record with player recruitment I wanted us to uncover an unknown coaching gym rather than someone who left QPR under a cloud. But I know very little about any of this, other than there has been no official announcement of anything yet.

You can’t be unprofessional just because it’s the mags though. If they think they can keep it safe then so be it. I just hope we win and give the Saudi green washers a bloody nose.

I'm not, just saying I don't need to be told about the rivalry.

And Neil has no say on what the police and FA decide.

He has more say that the FA. They only say UP TO 15% "However this is subject to the local Safety Advisory Group (SAG) agreeing to that ticket allocation number.
If they don’t think it’s safe, then they won’t get the full allocation, I’d like to think he’s professional enough to make an informed decision, however my head tells me he’s a mag ****

It's difficult to argue that it's unsafe after giving Hartlepool 10,000 in the same competition tbf ...

... we can't just lie because it suits us.
