One other thing. It's pretty exciting to think it still could be absolutely anybody. There has been hardly any link from any reputable source about this at all. Only in the last few days with Still and L'Equipe. Hellberg was essentially made up by a Sunderland fan on twitter and that rumour seemed to snowball.

For all any of us know, there is somebody else in the running, who hasn't leaked at all. And is at the AoL right now getting a tour.

 

Also,under our current model,come next June, we won't have any senior players!
However,that doesn't mean they can't give an experienced and valuable opinion,I know.

Are you thinking of the Sable link being born from a Sunderland fan on Twitter? Hellberg was confirmed as being in talks by a reputable Swedish journalist and has since confirmed it himself although also saying he was out of the running.

 

It does really if we’re now asking the players on what their opinions are on our head coach search

The Swedish journalist himself was saying it was “according to reports in England”. So either the reports were a coincidence. I didn’t know Hellberg had confirmed it himself

 

Not sure how appointing Dodds would be a failure of process. Surely it would be a sign of employing good coaches, allowing them to develop and then giving them more senior positions?

Sometimes things fall into your lap in football, yes people want the shiny new coach but if the hierarchy have seen a potentially great head coach in Dodds then I am more than ok with that.

For comparison, Dodds now has 4 games in charge of a first team under his belt. McKenna had zero before Ipswich appointed him, Maresca had 14 games with Parma before he was sacked and went to City before Leicester appointed him, Rosenior had 12 as Derby interim before they replaced him and he went to Hull, Carrick had 3 games as Man Utd interim before Boro appointed him.

What's the difference between Dodds getting our job and employing an assistant coach from another club?

firstly we don’t know they are. Secondly it’s bonkers to think that asking a stakeholder what their opinion is ,’is making a pigs ear of things
