Excuses. Pathetic excuses as well. Getting pissed is no excuse for anti-social behaviour. Would you excuse racist or homophobic language for someone being drunk? I do have a thick skin and will tolerate a certain level of players showing frustration in the heat of the moment. But the moment I'm surrounded by players or they use an aggressive tone, someone's in the sin bin for dissent. I also have no tolerance for abuse from coaches or spectators. If a coach mouths off at me, he or she is yellow carded straight away. They do it again, they're sent off. If a spectator crosses the line, I report the club to the Hampshire FA. Coaches have a responsibility to set an example, particularly at youth level. I do everything I can to stamp out dissent before it escalates into abuse. Which is why I get annoyed when PL referees do nothing about bad player behaviour.
