TBF Wigan v Man United is fine for TV. Good chance of an upset. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I think it was broken relatively recently, but at least in this case there are a couple of divisions gap this time, its probably the most 'FA Cup' tie of the whole bunch which tells you everything you need to know.

    Sunderland v Newcastle
Arsenal v Liverpool (its all PL, but it is a big game)
    Wigan v Man U

Are the only reasonable picks on the list.

ITV have been utterly terrible at sports broadcasting for decades, people moan about the BBC but i'd much rather give them all free to view sports. Channel 4's coverage of England recently was utter tripe too.

Got to be extra careful considering Portsmouth shares the same first three letters of a well known adult site

    Wowzers.

Gerona win 4-2 at Camp Nou to go top of La Liga.

Also Kilmarnock beat Celtic. Bayern smashed 5-1.

    Unfortunately Leverkusen only draw.

The ref deserves a yellow for going down too easily.

This is not aimed at you, I'm just quoting your post but I do find it laughable people think it's ok to verbally abuse referees but then act all outraged when someone physically attacks one. The way I see it, they're almost worse. They are the ones who encourage the violence.

    So he does!

I didn't watch to the end first time round. Looked like a bit of a weak punch, but I guess not.

It was a weak punch in Turkey as he didn’t have a knife in his hand. I would be terrified to ref in Turkey!

What did the ref do? Seems a bit premature to be judging without knowing the facts

Disagree. This is sport. Thousands of passionate people, often intoxicated. It's going to be a hostile atmosphere. Referees need to be thick-skinned. Obviously actual violence is abhorrent, and any perpetrator should be banned for life.

Excuses. Pathetic excuses as well. Getting pissed is no excuse for anti-social behaviour. Would you excuse racist or homophobic language for someone being drunk? I do have a thick skin and will tolerate a certain level of players showing frustration in the heat of the moment. But the moment I'm surrounded by players or they use an aggressive tone, someone's in the sin bin for dissent. I also have no tolerance for abuse from coaches or spectators. If a coach mouths off at me, he or she is yellow carded straight away. They do it again, they're sent off. If a spectator crosses the line, I report the club to the Hampshire FA. Coaches have a responsibility to set an example, particularly at youth level. I do everything I can to stamp out dissent before it escalates into abuse. Which is why I get annoyed when PL referees do nothing about bad player behaviour.

Your stretching and jumping from one context to another too flippantly. And why are you using the race/gay card? Your Sunday League reffing is slightly different from a professional game in the Turkish Superlig.

I totally agree with you about abuse from players and coaches btw, in all contexts. Should be totally outlawed and punished accordingly. I also agree that at a non-professional level, abuse by fans should be treated in the same way.

Your original response however seemed to imply that any abuse from fans (at a professional game) shouldn't be tolerated either. While I tend to agree with the sentiment, it just isn't realistic to expect a crowd of thousands of passionate fans to behave in a totally respectful way. Again, a few angry chants is a world away from a fan actually running on the pitch and violently attacking a ref. But if we outlaw antagonistic chants towards referees, then we have to do the same about those towards players, and eventually what? Towards opposition fans? Okay, well bye bye atmosphere then.
