I think he’ll get Derby back up. Very inconsistent at first but they’ve been solid lately. Good manager at that level.
Listened to that pod with Will Still and Jake Humphrey, while it's not my thing it's a decent listen.
One thing I noticed was Still said he goes alot on gut instinct when making job moves in football. If KLD and KS have approached him and sold him the club vision with where we're going with data and everything, I can see Still totally buying into that vision.

I personally hope it comes off, he seems a really good fit for us
Excellent podcast, he has certainly worked to get where he is today even working for free at 2 clubs.

That makes me think he definitely sees the bigger picture and hopefully KLD can persuade him to steer us to the Prem.

I do fear that a lot of you are building yourselves up for a bit of disappointment with Will Still. I just don’t think he’ll take the job at this moment in time - even in the context of offers from the Premier League he said he’d want to see out at least the season with Reims. I do accept though that managers often say one thing and end up doing another.

I know the whole thing about them paying the fine for him for not having his coaching badges has become a bit of a cliche/joke but they clocked up nearly £600k in doing so, that’s quite a show of faith and investment in the lad so he’d surely want to show them some loyalty in return by staying and not leaving them in the lurch mid season.

I agree it'll be difficult to pull off and might never happen.
Still said he wanted to leave to show support for the manager who brought him in when he left (his daughter was dying/died) but the club said you have to either stay or pay us 600k to leave which was in his contract. So he had to stay, unfortunately now the previous manager won't talk to him

Oh, that’s interesting. Changes the complexion of it all quite a lot. Not quite the gesture of goodwill and faith that I thought it was then.

600k compensation for him to leave them then?

Just read a cracking article on Luke Williams of Notts County and his commitment to short corners. Bit odd I know but I dont really understand the reason for corners going straight into the box so it interesting to me. Anyway, on the subject of Luke Williams would anyone consider him? His last 18 months at Notts County is very impressive and spent a few years as Russel Martins assistant (who I would have here in a heartbeat). A pal is a supporter of them and says their style of football is really really good. I dont think it will be long before someone takes a look in his direction, probably not us, but an example of talent in this country.

Reims had been tracking Still since he was 24. They brought him in but after a while Still got approached by Vincent Kompany to work with him. Still decided to leave and Reims were furious coz they thought he should've stayed with them.
He didn't even take up the job with Kompany as he felt it wasn't right for him.
He was then approached by the manager of Reims to come back. The board at Reims were still fuming so wrote it into his contract that he had to pay up 600k to leave or they could sack him for nothing if they sacked the manager (as it was his decision and not the clubs)

No idea of he's signed a new contract but if he hasn't surely the 600k would be the compo.

* I've only just listened to the podcast this morning. I'm not some kind of Will Still stalker *

Who knows. They certainly play canny stuff.

But the next " big" name is often someone no one has heard of, even these days.

I've never heard of hardly any of them mind, but let's see who turns up. If he's better overall than TM, then fair enough.

I've just read online that he's only on £16per week and has 18 months left on his contract so compensation could be £1.25 million plus any clauses in his contract.

It's been so long that I've posted on here " health issues ' that I've forgotten how to put a link up

The podcast where he explains his career that Southern A put up on page 6 is very eye opening. The fall out with Garcea previous Reims manager hurt him by the sounds of it so maybe there's no love lost with the club when or if he decides to leave.

I’m not going to comment on Still as it would be coming from a place of ignorance since I’m refusing to watch any of these videos, read any of these pieces or listen to any of these podcasts on him.

I’ve been stung before, learnt all there was to know about Liam Manning and Favioli and convinced myself or was convinced by internet content that they were the second coming. Only leads to disappointment if they don’t end up here.
