Hilarious. They conveniently forget the Anthony Gordon foul which should’ve been a penalty donut evened itself out in the game. I wonder if they’d have complained had it happened at the other end and not been given? I’d wager they would
VAR has totally complicated the handball rule. If the ref had given it in real time it would have been extremely harsh but the referee's view/human error, spur of the moment decision making, would still make it hard but tolerable to take. Giving a penalty for that with the hindsight of VAR is scandalous. I think its time to go back to allowing football to function in the 'grey area' of the single referee rather than relying on idiots/the corrupt sitting at computers often telling us that black is white. We could get angry but handle and quickly forget about a ref making a mistake. VAR mistakes are getting increasingly more difficult to swallow.
I suppose what will happen is one of the big rich clubs will eventually get fed up and take/threaten var officials to court if they feel they are going to lose a huge wedge through a stupid decision.
I'd love to see that happen (and fail) because enforcement of the rules is in the gift of the match official. If a referee, or a VAR official believes (for example) that the ball struck the player's hand and prevented the ball falling to an attacker, then that is their opinion. You cannot prove what might have happened. Last night, PSG might has still scored had the penalty not been given. Basing a legal challenge on a hypothetical situation is utter nonsense.
To rub salt into the mags' wound, it's reported on SSN that the VAR used last night has been replaced for tonight's game
We’ve been shafted plenty this year and that’s without var, ya ****er you’d think there the only ones ever to have injuries and decisions go against them.
Always the victims. Saw a lot of chat about their "endless injury list" then looked at their team and (by my reckoning) they were only missing 3 players from their strongest line up. Try playing the biggest game of your season with a RB, CM & LW as your back 3 There's always a "poor me" narrative with these ****s
Aye a mate of mine was banging on about them getting loads of “amazing” kids in too yet they field 3 keepers haha absolutely shocking that btw what’s the point.
I remember a picture of Arteta being made to look like a cry baby . Typical mag hypocrisy that has existed for as long as I can remember
Haven’t got a clue what you are on about, if it didn’t hit his hand, it’s not a penalty, as simple as that, nothing hypothetical about it.
What a fooking weapon, had to stop listening to the whingy crying mag tit. Seems a common trait with a lot of the bellends.
The Mags always say that if we'd beaten Everton it wouldn't have mattered that Jimmy Hill cheated ... ... case closed.
There are many instances where the ball hitting the hand in the box isn't a penalty Last night the ball hit the defender's hand. The VAR deemed it was a penalty but there are plenty of people challenging this interpretation saying that it hit his chest first etc etc UEFA have even stood the official down for tonight implying that he made a mistake Theoretically, the Saudis could mount a legal challenge towards UEFA and/or VAR official for lost revenues due to the decision that was made (on the assumption that the game would have finished 0-1) The point I am making is that any such challenge (as per your post) would be pointless because a) the ref was doing their job and, b) you cannot guarantee that had the penalty not been given that the game would have definitely finished 0-1
It would be wonderful if Newcastle did take legal action. Lose and they'll be humiliated, hated more and the team everyone wants to lose.. Win and they'll be hated even more and the team everyone wants to lose.
I think we are at crossed purposes mate, I thought the ball didn’t hit him at all ( from the angle I saw it from) hence my reply to you.
