That bit means there is nothing to be envious about and it doesn't matter like it would have if Ashley was still owning them!
I have so much disrespect for Newcastle’s ownership and what it stands for that I would not want to be them. I’m happy generally with our approach and cumulative development ahead of the blood money spend.
Sums up how our fans feel I reckon, it's easy to assume we would be envious! Well it's easy and lazy to assume we are envious if you do **** all research and pretend not to see what their ownership is about! The media are doing the latter quite well fans of football aren't!
I wouldn't want to be owned by a rotten country tbh, certainly not China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, etc. But the PL has lost its appeal as well ... a typical example of making something worse by improving it. At every play-off final the main focus, from TV, is how much money the winners will make. There's no longer the slightest suggestion that the club will be able to compete at the top, it's just a guaranteed slog to keep avoiding relegation. Even the clubs that 'succeed' will eventually blow up as Southampton did for example. A club like Sunderland, even with excellent support home and away, can never challenge at the top. We used to laugh at the Rangers/Celtic closed shop but we're heading that way now whereby the trophies will be divied out between a handful of clubs. I'll just watch our bunch of young lads, doing their best, and be happy with that.
Envious of Saudi regime, not a chance. Even honest Mags would rather the money came from elsewhere but there’s nowt they can do about it.
I’m actually not sure that’s true! A lot of the ones I come across say they “don’t care as wuh’ve got wor club back”
They aren’t even owned in the usual sense. Their name , history , tradition and even passion , their whole being is “ owned” - it’s been taken . Is owned the right word? Maybe it should be replaced with “ used” by.
I'm at work in newcastle, and not one mag has mentioned it. They don't say much to me about football now anyway....there's no banter anymore, but I would have thought this would have got a mention. It's funny listening to them though, how their accents become broader when they talk about the "toon".
Funny that, because most fans I know don't give a **** and agree that the takeover bought the rivalry. Papers say any old crap
Couldn't agree more about when they talk about the team, it's like they go into Geordie overload. And you're right, there's zero crack with them anymore, there was one at work a few weeks ago that couldn't help himself when we were talking about football in general at the bait table, his answer to anything that he thought derogatory towards Newcastle was "Champions Leauge", "Champions Leauge". Even other Mags told him he was being a bell.
