Liverpool started with Downing, Carroll and Henderson on the bench. That's £75 million of mediocrity that doesn't even start. It amazes me that Dogleash's transfer dealings haven't been criticised further.

The fact that they sold Torres for 50 million seems to have acted as a means of justification for their sporadic and ill thought transfer dealings. Is Carroll on the reported £80k per week then? If so that's another £4,160,000 per year x 5 year contract = £20,800,000 on wages.
