I think O'Neill and Sunderland are a perfect fit. He'd be my number 1 choice and is by far and away th best candidate. I know it opinions but was has Van Basten done as a manager? where can hiddink point to and show us what he could deliver to a club like ours? That goes for Ancellotti too.

i'd break the bank to get moyes.

can't see it for a number of reasons, but if he'd been given half the resources keane and bruce have squandered we could expect to be in and around the european places each and every season.

i'd take mon, i know he's an abrasive character but his track record with clubs in positions like ours is second-to-none.

Neither O'Neill or Hughes for me but I don't think either of them would come anyway. I think both are waiting for one of the "bigger" clubs to manage so that they get a quick entry into Europe, the same reason as many players who will not come to Sunderland. Moyes would be my choice but I don't think we have a hope in hell of getting him, he will probably remain loyal to Everton who will one day soon be sold to a rich foreigner.

I'd like to see us going for someone like Paul Lambert of Norwich or the Reading or Swansea manager. Sorry I can't remember their names (another senoir moment ) but all three managers have produced teams that play reasonable footbal and play as a team with some method and logic and they have done it on a shoestring, not that I advocate that.

Moyes firstly whouldnt need as much money as MON,Bruce or Keane....

Secondly Evertons dream is over the players are leaving and the new stadium dream is gone they are no longer challanging for europe and is stuck towards the bottom middle of the PL there owner wont sell and has no money

We have a Billionairre owner, passionate fans ,Top team in the City,Good squad and the dream which drew him to everton in the first place...

Whats Van Basten done as a manager.

Holland G 52 W 35 D 11 L 6 in 4 years winning % 67.31%
Ajax G 32 W 20 D 4 L 8 in 1 season winning % 62.5%

Yes he hasnt been to a lot of places/had a lot of jobs, but i would take that winning % in a heartbeat tbh.

Decent shout mate...

Are any of the Bruce out Brigade in a position to pay up the rest of his contract ? I would guess not so think about it from the club's point of view

Martin O'Neill appears to be the right choice for me but if he doesn't want to come in the same way Crouch didn't want to come then we must consider who are the best alternatives.

Anybody care to throw a list into the hat?

The last time we were relegated 80 people were made redundant at the club. Ask those people what they think.

I'd sooner spend Januarys transfer budget on getting of Bruce, it would be the very best 4m the club could spend in all honesty.

. Hughes
. Moyes (Unlikely)
. Someone attacking (Lambert etc.)
. My personal favourite: Me

Lambert could turn out to be an inspired selection (and he is Scottish too, which is generally a good thing where managers are concerned) but he hasn't won anything, so must be considered a rookie. He guided Norwich to promotion which is very good and he also guided Wycombe Wanderers to the semi's of the league cup. Interestingly, Martin O'Neill also manged both Wycombe and Norwich respectively.

Gus Poyet might of been a good choice but I think he will have upset the FA with his recent comments on racism and I guess he won't be getting the 'run of the cloth' where referee decisions are concerned from this point on so I would reject him for that.

Here is my long short list, not in any specific order. A few of them in here I wouldn't like to see in the short list but I threw them in just for good measure.

Roberto Di Matteo
Sven-Göran Eriksson
Gianfranco Zola
David Moyes
Martin O'Neill
Stuart Pearce
Mark Hughes
Gérard Houllier
Walter Smith
Lawrie Sanchez
Claudio Ranieri
Steve McClaren
Gordon Strachan
Bryan Robson
Juande Ramos
Guus Hiddink
Glenn Hoddle
Roy Hodgson
David O'Leary
Alan Curbishley
Ian Holloway
Paul Lambert
Paul Jewell
Sam Allardyce
Martin Jol
Avram Grant
Owen Coyle
Rafael Benítez
Joe Kinnear (Just for our maggy friends!)

If ES stays I expect Bob Bradley to turn up in January.
If ES bails out and we have a new investor brucie will be safe until the end of the season, then sacked. Just my humble opinion

Well I suppose one good thing is that nobody with a net worth of less than 1 billion is likely to takeover from Short.
