We’re in a predicament with loans imo because if we terminate Burstows loan it doesn’t look good and you have to feel like it could lead PL clubs to dodge loaning us their youngsters in the near future. As much as I think he hasn’t done much he’s barely been given a chance but he have so many young lads there it seemed like a waste of a loan from the beginning. I’d probably get rid of Pritchard because he’s never going to be a starter again and for the sake of 20 minute cameos we could free up his wages and sign/loan a decent DM that would be giving us a lot more than Pritchard is.
Suggest we make this thread Sunderland transfer detail only, perhaps have a non S'land Transfer window thread if people want to follow general transfer dealings.
We've got another two months before needing to make a decision on strikers. Look at Rusyn - nowhere near at the beginning of October, first choice now. CDM would be an absolute priority for me. We still need a grizzled veteran somewhere for those days where it's just not going for us.
Not with our track record of developing young players. One misfit won't change the minds of Premier League clubs. It's not our fault he hasn't made the grade in the Championship and he has been given umpteen opportunities.
this is my point when i always suggest that we need experience in there, watching the lads play with that 'freedom of youth' is great but there are times we need that bit of nous on the pitch, using our recent boro game as the example, i feel sure that if we had an evans or two in there along with the younger lads doing the front running when needed we could have gained at least a point in that one...such 'grizzled veterans' can spot a change in the opposition and react to it and keep the other lads on top of it.
I think it wise to see what realistic bids come in for some of our squad and the potential of losing some of our star players. The requirement then becomes a whole different to adding to the current squad
January is never a good time to sell unless.its a player the club actively want rid of. The only way either of those players leave in January is if they are pushing for moves. Otherwise the club keeps them until summer window at least! All just imo like!
Nope but that wouldn’t surprise me at all. I don’t expect him to be here much longer tbh. Summer at the latest.
No idea but apparently he wanted to change this summer gone Just passing on what I heard like. Much like how you used to, then complained when you got **** for it?..
well i for one am looking forward to being entertained towards the end of the window again, when some people believe every rumour, getting over excited or over annoyed about some player who might or might not move in or out. i will be doing my usual and (trying) to keep my emotions in check while waiting to see what action, if any, actually does happen...i can see higher offers coming in for clarke at least, neil will attract the usual interest and looking through the team i feel there are at least a couple more that could attract clubs, summer window will certainly be interesting imho.
For me, if there's any offers that come in for either Neil, Clarke or Ballard then there should be a premium price to be paid for any of them with it being the January window
If any of those 3 go then I’d expect a few surprises on the incoming side. Would only make sense if we improved the squad as a result of letting one of them go. If we can get good money I’d be tempted to cash in on Roberts for someone with more end product. I haven’t heard of him signing a new deal yet.
I doubt we'll get more than £2m for Roberts come January unless he signs a new contract. I still believe they'll go for Aravena from Chile that they were linked with in the summer. He's a left winger 21yrs old, so get him in January, let him settle and acclimatise until we probably sell Clarke in the summer
