This style of football is entertaining if played with pace and the attackers are allowed to take men on rather than turn around and pass back to the defence/keeper in order to ensure we keep the ball at all costs. Unfortunately we play possession based football slowly and robotic where we do turn around and pass it back. The times when we do speed it up, we usually create some good chances but it is absolutely nowhere near enough and I personally find it boring. If you watch Tottenham last night, every time they were passing it around the back it was ALWAYS to exploit space quickly with men running forward at will. We just don't do that.
Nothing wrong with possession based football, it’s the rigid positional play that I hate. If each player has an exact position on the pitch, with a specific role, and rehearsed attacking moves then it wont take long for the opposition to counter it. Just look at the **** show that happened at Doncaster. Would love us to play more like Spurs, so much more entertaining to watch and also harder to defend against because of the ‘chaos’ it creates We’re the opposite…boring and predictable
For me I think there are some very key factors at play now. First, the new sponsorship with Mr McV... I'm sure that Acun has sold him the dream too. These people, Acun included are used to success and they want to represent their country on the biggest stage. Will they be patient, who knows. Second, I have felt all along that we are missing someone with some nous, unfortunately it seems that LR is insistent on and the recruitment of younger talent. This on the one hand of the business model is great, but if you want to develop these players, they need someone around them to tell them when to stick and when to twist (think Magure/Dawson) and again for me this is where we are currently being naive. This also reaches to the mention of an assistant with the same necessary experience. I personally dont think that LR would entertain that at all. Then you have the question of 'IF' we reached the EPL would LR have the ability to handle a massive leap in terms of playing staff, playing style, personalities and ultimately the pressure of trying to out think those at the pinnacle of the game. This is a long term thing for HCAFC and I sit in the camp of improvements, definitely, long term solution, I'm afraid not.
Ah, I understand now, there's obviously a difference between 'picked' and 'selected' which I'd failed to understand. Got it.
I picked and or selected ( whichever way you want to word it ) the 12 games this season and last season because we have played 12 games so far this season. It's really not that difficult to understand is it? Or is it a bit like the mediocre line all over again... You just don't understand what it means?
Why would you want to specifically focus on the one game in which we hung onto a result and which could've gone differently? You could also look at the five or six games that we should've won but for wasted chances and other teams hanging on against us. Also, you focus on Shota's first 12 games, but that is irrelevant to how much Rosenior has improved us, since it includes the first few games of good form which had been long gone by the time Shota was sacked. By the time he left we were a total mess, nothing like the first few games of the season. For a comparison of what Rosenior took over you'd have to look at the last few games under Shota, which was basically losing by at least 2 every week. Clearly you are looking to prove a particular point and that is probably why someone else has mentioned being selective.
Good and fair debate, I'm in camp Hull City and always want every new manager we appoint to be our best ever. Still too early to judge LR and 12th after 12 games keeps me on the fence. I thought LR made a good point that his modern game philosophy brought Philogene, Delap and Morton here, however we should also be free to adapt tactics during games. A more expirenced coach alongside might help but I have faith in Andy Dawson in there, however always remember a young Phil Brown called on advice from Horton and Allerdyce. I'm backing LR for the full season. UTT.
From what I've read on here and heard elsewhere, Delap had to choose between us and Rotherham, we offered more money to Liverpool than anyone else for Morton and we were the only club willing to pay £5m for Jaden with a £15m buy back. I don't think it is down to Rosie's style of play as much as he likes to think (or say) it is.
I don’t buy this bollocks that Rosenior’s playing style was the difference in luring Philogene, Delap and Morton and that they wouldn’t come were it not for his style. Delap played for Stoke and Preston last year, both of which are not possession teams and are pretty direct. Philogene was on loan at Cardiff, another team that didn’t play possession football last year. Young players tend to go where they’ll get the most game time on loan or the most money if it’s a permanent deal.
Manchester City and Liverpool don't loan their young talent out to clubs where they won't develop though.
You can debate this stuff to death but let's face it, whatever Rosenior says some of us accept it and some of us dismiss it or argue with it, and it's the people who already have an issue with him that are in the latter camp.
Yeah, that’s why Howden created the thread. To discuss it without clogging up match day threads. If you’re so offended by any sort of criticism of Rosenior, maybe don’t contribute to this thread? Have you considered that?
I don't have an issue with LR, I think he's a lovely fella and I'm positive he'll do well in the game. Do I think we could and should have done better when replacing Shota, yes.
You could equally say some fans will blindly go along with whatever Rosenior says or does because they like him. Neither is the right thing to do which im guessing is the whole point of this thread..
he's inexperienced, some flaws but to be expected, he's still learning, i want him to stay till end of season minimum i do wonder though if we dont win in the next 2 games, if there will be some serious pressure mounting on him
I think the key thing we are missing is speed of thought, its all so static and slow, therefore it's easy to defend against. Now whether that is down to the coaching or choice of personnel is a fine call. Potentially a combination of the 2, but I go back to the Ipswich game and how they moved it so much faster, without what you would consider having the so called star players. Now McKenna has been at the helm a tad bit longer then Liam and has had more time to create his team and the tactics, but he seems less risk averse then LR. Sometimes you have to be braver to get the rewards, at present it comes across from watching us that the tactics seem more to avoid defeat then get a win. I'm hoping that LR puts it right, really like the fella and his affinity with the club, but I do agree with some on here that suggest he needs a good assistant, one with a little nowse, Dawson while being a great servant to us, isn't a manager or assistant manager, he's shown that already both here and Scunny.
Its a results business..More than ever. There's pressure on all gaffers to produce the goods...If Norwich lose tonight at home to M'bro. Wagner could be out on his'arris. I think we'll stick with LR for the foreseable....ie to the end of the season, then see what develops from there....
