Papers are talking about 7 to 12 months. It doesn't make much difference as 7 months gets to the end of this season anyway. If he has indeed bet on his own teams games - even if just for them to win when he wasn't playing - then he deserves what he gets. The rules are there for a reason. Not too worried from a footballing point of view, he'll be back and it's probably the only position we're ok in anyway. I can see him playing in the meantime - like every other player I can think of under these circumstances - unless his heads not in the right place. From a footballing point of view it's better than an injury as he can train with the team in the meantime. I could try and point out he was only 21 at the suggested time of the betting but that's comfortably old enough to know it's illegal and take responsibility for the outcomes. I'm, not happy about it all but given what some footballers have been up to in recent seasons it very much could be worse I guess.
