Unless it's a volley of rockets that have all failed at launch maybe. I doubt we'll ever know the truth. Deliberately bombing a hospital would severely test the unequivocal support they've had so it seems like a really stupid move.
Gaza is a heavily concentrated area which would make it difficult to carry out specific targeted airstrikes. That's clear. There are no visible arms compounds, no barracks, no military installations. So what exactly are they bombing and how can they honestly claim they're avoiding schools, care homes, hospitals, etc. They can't. "Fell short" they say, the video on BBC news at 10 seemed to show a clinical strike on a building, as opposed to those missiles hamas launch out of water pipes - that look like large fireworks (I know they kill but nowhere near the destructive power of the hospital strike).

All kinds of excuses/reasons, some plausible some ludicrous, can be found as to how this isn't the result of one of hundreds of Israeli air strikes. In reality it's much more likely to be an air strike though not certain. What is clear is that Israel believe they have carte blanche to retaliate in whichever they choose. Gaza is one of the most densely populated areas in the world so it's virtually impossible for air strikes to be specific. Many more civilians are being killed than Hamas terrorists which Israel know and clearly don't care. Sunak jumping in and giving Israel total unending support is a serious lack of reason imo.
Biden saying it was "done by the other team" as per current information they have. No support of humanitarian aide to Gaza, just words of support that the USA stands unequivocally for the protection of civilian life during conflict and mourn the patients, medical staff and other innocents killed or wounded in the tragedy.

Footage on BBC verify tends to back-up Israel version of "one of the other sides" rockets went wrong mid-flight then fell into carpark of hospital. Small crater and burnt out cars, along with limited damage to surrounding buildings would indicate it was not one of the typical Israel munitions.
To be fair I don't trust any BBC reports as they are often skewed depending on what agenda is being pushed at the time. It may well be true but you will get better reporting on other news stations such as C-Span or even Al jazeera who despite the name seem to give a more honest evaluation of events. There are a number of different news reporting agencies and you will often find that a lot of what we are being told by UK news outlets is very selective and can alter our view of what is really going on.
It annoys me that whilst this is of serious concern and needs to be reported , it’s all that’s being reported and they seem to have decided that I needn’t be bothered about Ukraine any more.
I wouldn’t believe in a hundred years that was a Hamas rocket, it would take something the size of a scud to flatten a building with 2000 people in, all the ones I’ve saw land in Israel are lucky to take a roof off a house, I’ve saw bigger rockets bought at our newsagents.
That's another possibility. The Israelis can disprove it any time they like - all their aircraft have the capability to record their exact position at all times.
@rowley That's rather stretching the truth calling Al-Hussein a celebrated ally because he once had his photo taken with Hitler. Every request he made to Hitler was rejected out of hand. He wanted support for an Arab uprising to remove the proposition of a Jewish state/homeland in Palestine. He also wanted assurances he would be recognised as a future Arab leader, again he would be disappointed as that request was also rejected. As far as I'm aware, he only had that one meeting with Hitler.
