Just watch the full game, some outstanding performances all over the pitch, Jaden deservedly got MOTM, but it could have been anyone of about 6 players. Lovely to see Delap & Philogene linking up well together.
Yes but the way Tan explained it, we can take a higher offer from elsewhere if one comes in … so if that’s the case, the buy-back is pretty meaningless. I would say he’s already worth more than £15 million. Better than KLP.
Surely wouldn't be a bad shout to let Carsley move up to Senior level and take over from Southgate, hopefully just as these lads are blossoming.
I think it's that we have to be in the same division. A buy back means Villa have the right to speak to Philogene at 10m, we can't reject their bid. If someone else bids more we can accept their bid too but Villa don't have to offer more than 10, and I think Philo already has personal terms agreed with them if that eventuates (part of the hold up, same issue Archer had). Now, if Man City come in offering 30m and offer him double the wages, he may well prefer to go to them, so to that extent you're right it means the buy back is "meaningless" but Villa are definitely in a very favourable position if they want him.
I thought that was always referring to Philogene, but I might be misremembering. Thought it was a player we were signing permanently which was Philo not Twine.
I think its fair to say, unless Birmingham has a particular draw, theres no way JP based on his current trajectory will be leaving the club for 10 million... if what is said is true that other clubs can then bid and the play makes the choice... maybe theres another part of the deal we're not aware of with a sell on should he choose not to go to them.
Carsley, though, was full of praise for City boss Liam Rosenior and the Championship club. "He (Philogene) was very good," he told Hull Live. "Hull have to take a lot of credit and Liam Rosenior, the way he plays him at Hull. We've been able to capitalise on what he's already doing. It was brilliant for him to get his goal, and not only his goals, but the way he's approached the week so far. He's taken it all in his stride which is brilliant for us.
Based on his current trajectory there's no way we should consider any offer until he's secured his first full England cap as our player, probably post-Southgate's No Hull City Player Policy, so near to our first with Maguire & Bowen, even Livermore got another after he left us.
You might be right, I'm just going by what Tan is quoted as saying in the HDM. In that, he deffo says £15 million, not £10 million, and he seems to say we don't have to sell to Villa if a higher bid comes in (and of course the buy back only kicks in when we're in the same division). In any case, I think the likeliest scenario is that, sadly, we won't get promoted this season (though I hope we do), but by the end of the season if he continues at his current level Philo will probs be one of the most sought-after Championship players at a value of what ... perhaps as high as £25 million? https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/jaden-philogene-buy-back-clause-8766474
Buy Philogene for 5m after selling KLP for 15-20m to habitually bench warm is a very un-City like exchange. Plus Philogene has better song potential. Would anyone swap? Would they ****.
