The Premier League's Independent Key Match Incidents Panel, which decided 3-2 that his second foul wasn't a yellow. Bit of a split decision really; I can understand yellow being given.
They also thought Jones was a red.
Spare a thought for Brighton though - the panel said that Villa's second and third goals shouldn't have stood and that Konsa should have seen a second yellow.[/QUOTE}
On the Jones red, let me put this scenario to you: Hooper gives a yellow, England comes rushing back in from puking up in the bog and somehow misconstrues that Hooper gave a red. He takes one look and says 'check complete'. The ref thinks the yellow stands, and the game kicks off again.
So, in THAT scenario - are we REALLY expecting England to say "Check complete. Game has re-started - nothing I can do now'. Like ****. The next time the ball went out he'd be on the blower "Hey, what's Jones doing on the pitch? Go and have a look at the screen'.
And if he'd stayed on and it came out after the game that a 'Significant human error' led to him staying on and Liverpool went on to win comfortably (as they would have, 11 v 11), would the Spurs fans be so ****ing sanguine about it? I think ****ing not, somehow.![]()
