The first interview I saw, he described the accusations as "baroque"... which makes literally zero sense in the context - it means "relating to or denoting a style of European architecture, music, and art of the 17th and 18th centuries"

The word baroque, as I understand it, was initially a negative one. For some time it was used to describe contorted ideas e.g. In art terms Baroque for some time had some challenging perceptions but subsequent to the period has been reframed somewhat. I have no idea how Brand used it, and I doubt he is half as clever as he thinks he is. One of the least likeable people to have been on my tv I would say, but maybe he is random enough to make some weird connection with this word and think he is being clever.
