He's having over 3.5 shots per 90, has more than 4 shot creating actions (so either a direct pass or earning a foul in a dangerous area) a game, and an xG of almost 0.4 a game. I'd say that's 'plenty' and when the conversion comes that starts looking a lot more impressive.

This needs to be the team for Stoke, need to stop playing it so safe!

I’d agree with that. Might be harsh on Connolly but given we only have two senior strikers and we need another body in midfield anyway, we should really only be starting one of either Delap or Connolly.

Is that less safe than a 4-2-4?

Genuinely asking as I'm surprised people think playing 4 attacking players is conservative and shifting one back into midfield is 'going for it', but maybe I'm missing something.

Haha oh dear, it's to late and I'm to tired for that kind of football manager rubbish, if you think he's contributing "plenty" then fill your boots. I've watched him in the flesh multiple times for us now and he's been poor bar the first 60ish mins of his first game. Other scouting reports I've seen also say he's been poor/infective/drifting through games/goes down to easy. To name a few comments

How many goals has he scored or created?
How many shots on target has he had?

I say this with the greatest respect as you can't get to games and your support from Australia is admirable and better then a lot who actually can get to games, but seeing him and the games In the flesh paint such a different picture to "stats"

He'll come good I'm sure he will and as you said comparing him to Malcolm is silly and wrong. But his contribution so far is below the level we should be demanding from our players. LR should be replacing him on Sunday if we are serious about challenging and also creating an atmosphere in the squad where the players know that if their performance levels drop then others come in

That’s exactly the line up I’d go with, except I’d have Coyle in for Vinagre <ok>

    "Football manager rubbish" <laugh>

    Lol ok mate.

How many goals has he scored? None, might be why at the end of my post I say "when the conversion comes". This conversation started with me saying he's been poor and needs dropping so not even sure we're expressing a difference of opinion. All I've said is he showed promising signs in his first few games, and I'd say that goes beyond the first 60 minutes he played for us.

Delap didn't have a goal or assist against Leeds but we all agree he was very good, all I'm suggesting is that just looking at goals and assists as the be all and end all of a player's contribution isn't always the way to go, and underlying stats can give a better picture of their contribution. Dismissing that as 'football manager rubbish' is a bit much.

I'm not just looking at goals and assists, I've looked at his whole performance(s) and he's not cut it so far. His off the ball work and work rate are horrendous for example. His possession stats are poor (as in keeping possession) If we want to challenge he and whoever plays need to do better then what he's offering so far.

Football manager rubbish was probably a little harsh, I'm sorry for that and yes stats can be useful, but they have to have context behind them and you also have to put them together will other bits of data to get the full picture.

For example the 3.5 shots per 90 you mentioned, how many where genuine shooting chances that where the correct choice? Could/should he have played as pass as a better option? How many where free kicks? ( he had 2/3 absolutely awful free kicks against cov for example ). It's extremely difficult to use stats to prove points unless you can see and use all stats and data to build the complete picture.

Absolutely and again I think we're actually saying the same thing from two different angles. I suppose what I'm saying is the equivalent of praising a striker for 'getting in the right spots' to fluff their chances, vs criticising them for not scoring the goal. When Twine gets his eye in on his free kicks and his shots and starts burying them, we'll be much more positive about him, so the fact he's getting into positions to have shots, even if he's stuffing them up, is the positive in my eyes. Maybe saying he's shown 'plenty' was a bit much, but I think he's shown he has a big part to play when he's up and running.

I think it's very harsh to criticise his work rate, LR wouldn't be playing him if he wasn't pulling his weight. I think one of the things he likes about him, and Philogene too, is that as well as being talented attacking players they also press and work for the team.

I think that looks much more balanced as a team, you could change Coyle for Vinagre, but I think getting Vinagre and Lokilo playing regularly should develop a good partnership.

Ok Leeds were pretty dominant first half but second half we looked really good in places. We won’t see another miss like that all season. We were good value for our point and very unlucky not to get all three. We are miles away from spending what the likes of Leeds and Leicester can. In my opinion ion we are doing very well and are building for the future. It’s going to be interesting to see if Rosie is prepared to change things around now to get his best side out.

You could also argue we were lucky to walk away with 1 after a couple of great saves from allsop.

We aren't going to challenge the top 6 with zero shots on target from games, especially home games. It was a very valuable pont but lessons have to be learnt

Connolly quite simply just hasn’t been as good starting. He doesn’t contribute what Delap does in the central areas. Delap makes others better, not sure Connolly does. Excellent option off the bench
