The signatures/contracts didn't take a year mate, they both signed in 2004 (although Cisse agreed a year before)

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp on Jordan Henderson's interview: "I read it after I heard about it. Hendo told the truth, we talked and I told him there was a possibility of not playing regularly. If Hendo would have performed, he'd have played. I thought it was important to talk openly. Hendo is a super guy but he is not great when he is not playing.

"He was my captain. I didn't want to lock horns because he thought he would be starting. He took that to mean we didn't want him here. I couldn't tell him he would start and that is why it is better that he moved on."

So...Klopp said he wasn't good enough to start anymore, Hendo threw a hissy and left?

Honestly, it might be more fair to Hendo to say, when he was offered more money, and a chance to keep playing regularly, he took the opportunity to extend his career.

It wasn't necessarily in a hissy fit that he left.

Jadon Sancho will probably be cheap in the January window.

Obviously not set the world on fire at United, but he was one of the bright sparks of England's future a few years ago and I remember a few murmers from Liverpool fans wanting him before he went to the dark side.

Anyone still take him? Anyone think Klopp could bring the best out of him and return him to how he was progressing at Dortmund before United ruined him?

We're short on home grown... or do you see him as too tainted now? Not that he is close to being a Salah replacement. <laugh>

It was Hendo's recent interview that was the issue.
He interpreted "I can't guarantee you'll start" as "You're not wanted", which is a bit over-sensitive imo.
Anyway, the criticism he got was less about the journey and more the destination.
Even more anyway, I'm well over it - he's gone, and we have an improved and exciting-looking midfield that should stand us in good stead for a few years to come.
    Everyone's a winner.

    Under the Hag at least.

Is he rebelling against a strict authoritarian leader, would a more rounded personality like Klopp who dishes the hugs and the sharp word be able to hug the motivation back into him?

It is interesting how he was considered breaking into world class back in '21 and now is word crass. What changed, other than going to United? His transfer in today's money would be over £100mill and he's not come close to that kind of performance. If he became something silly cheap like £25mill I might take a gamble. I certainly wouldn't break the bank on him because he would be an absolute gamble. He could continue being "United Sancho" instead of "Dortmund Sancho".

And that's my only problem. He spun the conversation to put himself in a better light, I don't think it's necessarily a hissy fit... but yes, I do have a problem with him going to SA and as a result becoming an ambassador of sorts for that nation.

If he went to, I don't know, Denmark instead, I would raise a toast to him and wish him well and not have any negative thoughts on him leaving or his interview.

That's if you believe ten Hag.
Tbh I've not seen all that much to impress me from Sancho. Maybe Klopp could get more out of him but I'm a bit meh about it. I certainly wouldn't want us to be paying daft money - either for him or to him.

His numbers before United were pretty impressive
There's a pretty common phenomenon dating back to Juan Mata: United buy a player who's top of the world, they go to United and crash.

I'm not sure how many of them return to greatness after leaving United and how many are permanently damaged by the experience.

I'd take him, it would bring me great joy to see him rip the prem to pieces after ten hag had said he wasn't good enough.

    The boys a talent.

If you watch the whole clip about what he said regarding Henderson, Klopp said (paraphrasing) that he can't guarantee anyone 50 games or whatever. If they are fit and performing, then they can play that amount of games but no player is guaranteed to play them all and that included Henderson. If there was such a guarantee, he wouldn't have left, 100%.

That all sounds like common sense. Like saint, I'm well over it now. You can read what you want into Klopp's comments and I already have and it hasn't changed my view on the situation.
