I think Pritchard is better player technically but Dack definitely gives us a better goal threat. His goal was a perfect example as when the ball went out to Ba I’m pretty sure Pritchard would have pulled out to the penalty spot for the ball to be cut back whereas Dack positioned himself where you would have expected a striker to and got the tap in
Looks a little heavy BUT he’s a cracking signing, gives us a bigger goal threat than our other 10s and he’s very clever with the ball, he will create & score. The international break will do him good to work on his fitness and maybe drop a few pounds
Or get a haircut. Hes a top lad me and my nephew spoke to him at Hartlepool and he couldn't have been more friendly and normal if he tried
Interesting. Inclined to agree, but that shouldn't detract from how hood Dack was today. Thought Pritchard was immense when he came on. He makes things happen and I'm glad we kept him
Get that impression from the reality TV bits mate seems sound as owt. Seems the group is to be fair for sure something we have stepped up on. Character/personality.
I couldn't believe how close we were able to get to them at Hartlepool mate. I felt like i was literally sat with them watching the game with them. Dack stood out as being extra friendly, but to be fair they were all top lads individually and seem to have a really good bond between themselves despite watching Pools batter us. Thats another story though........
Think he looks a good player and a good guy to have around the group. Personally wouldn't have him ahead of Pritchard in the team. But that said I don't think Pritchard gets into the position Dack got into for his goal today. He'd have been lurking on the edge. So they do bring different things. Perhaps with our lack of a striker Mowbray fancies Dack to bring goals (like today) that Pritchard wouldn't. But that when we have a proper striker, Pritchard's superior (IMO) creativity comes back to the fore. I think he still looks a little bit laboured which hopefully is still a bit of rustiness. Not a criticism of him at all, more just what I'm observing.
Pritch is not a 90 min player imo, hes more effective coming off the bench and changing the game with his technical ability . When he starts teams suss him out early and hes not even half as affective. Just my opinion though
I like that we have them both. Think there will be some games that suit Pritchard starting and Dack coming on, and some games that suit Dack starting and Pritchard coming on. When we have no striker it definitely suits Dack. And today was perfect to bring Pritchard on to then keep some control and press that Dack wouldn't be able to. On another day maybe its 0-0 and we are struggling for a goal and Pritchard started. Can then take him off for Dack and hope for his more "get into the box" style brings a goal like his one today. Don't think its necessary to say one of them is first choice. Horses for courses and all that. And nowadays, especially when we admit that neither of them are 90 minute players, being a substitute is a such more important role than it used to be,
With the squad we now have, other than Patto, Ballard, Clarke, Roberts, Neil, Onien and Ekwah no one is a guaranteed starter. Alese will be back soon to challenge Cirkin and we have a new RB from PSG
It’s a very long season, both will play their part. Both good players but very different despite playing the same position.
Our squad is so strong. We can afford it take the likes of Dack, Jobe, Roberts out if needs be. Shortage in CM obviously, but think there is enough to cover within the squad. Going to be some interesting selection problems in the coming weeks. Brilliant
You can't list 7 guaranteed starters and then say nobody else is . Thats quite a high number you know... Honestly don't think anybody other than Patterson is a guaranteed starter any more.
What impressed me most was how he was like the conductor of an orchestra with Ba and Jobe. He had those lads on strings, closing gaps and making it difficult for Southampton to play out I'm Pritchard's biggest fan, and would love to see them in the same team, but Mowbray has that problem. What a squad we have ... ... and Rigg is giving Mowbray more issues
I see your point entirely and agree they're the most "locked in" - I just think there will be rotation. And definitely dips in form. I'd be massively surprised if O'Nien and Ballard spent the entire season as first choice centre back, even if neither got injured. Seelt will push them. Likewise Roberts and Clarke with Aouchiche. I'm confident there will be games they're rotated out for him. Even Neil and Ekwah will need a rest and we will need to find a way to accomodate that.
